A Course in Miracles, also known as "the Course" or ACIM, was scribed by Dr. Helen Schucman. It is a self-study course that aims to assist listeners, readers, and students in achieving spiritual transformation. Book 1: Text is largely theoretical, and sets forth the concepts on which the Course's thought system is based. Its ideas contain the foundation for the lessons in Book 2, the Workbook for Students.

Where does A Course in Miracles: Text, Vol. 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This ranks in my top 10 of favorites, as it has to do with life and living. It contains powerful insights into meeting our potential. Like all spiritually living books (e.g. Bible, Quran, Tao Te Ching, Bahgavad Gita, Book Of Mormon, Tebetian Book Of Living and Dying, Power Of Now, etc..), this will lift anyone to new heights of awareness and spirituality. The book stands on its own, regardless of whether or not you believe in its author or how it came about.

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying is a contemporary spiritual masterpiece and one of the world's most profound sources of sacred inspiration. Sogyal Rinpoche interprets Tibetan Buddhism for Western students, offering new ways to look at life and death. He teaches us to transcend our fear and denial of death, enabling us to discover parts of ourselves that will survive eternally.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this to everyone. I read the original book (and continue to study it), and the audio book does well when I am driving to keep me on task. Profound insights in this book.

    Any additional comments?

My only complaint was it was abridged, and I felt many of the anectdotal experiences in the written book to be just as enlightening as the teachings that were presented. So, in the audio book you miss out on some of these powerful stories, and are presented interpretations or explanations approved by the author to keep the length of the recording down. Regardless, these also help to better understand the material. Like most books of this nature, it requires reading and rereading, listening and relistening to get the most out of it. Truly, amazing insights in this book.
