When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.

If you could sum up Fifty Shades of Grey in three words, what would they be?

The story of two people figuring out what they need for happiness, and what they are willing to give up for it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hmm, Steele or Grey? I love them both. Being het - I'd like to run away with Grey, but I identify with Steele.

What three words best describe Becca Battoe’s voice?

The first few chapters are grating. But if you can hang on - it get's better. I'm at the end of book 2 and only a few of the male voices make me wince. Shucks I even noticed the slip up of Christian speaking like Ethan.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

O.M.G. This was a struggle to put down. Do yourself a favor - start it when you have some time when folks won't be interrupting you...My husband has received some chilling glares.

    Any additional comments?

Although the sex at first was a bit much for me - as this was a co-workers book club read - I think if folks can get through that they will see a very interesting story about two worlds intertwining.

Still a bit nervous about the book club meeting with a co-worker and 10 strangers...but it'll certainly be a growth point.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

What did you like about this audiobook?

I think I might actully listen to this again. I almost never do that, but I fell in love with some of the characters. I'll admit I was worried about how it would end, but I was happy with how it was handled. The tripping back and forth through the two timelines at first was a stressor, but over time I learned why it was there, and it ceased to be a bother, but a guiding star.

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

Oh so many. I think though that it would be Poppet. Part of me would like one day to see it continued on with her tale.

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

At the party as her dress shifted to green.

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Isabel's readings, her being set free, Bailey's debate to stay or go.

Do you have any additional comments?

Loved it. And I am not normally a fan of stories not set in the current day or near future. The imagery was stunning. The characters, at least one, will appeal to you- and you will want to continue on to see does their tale go the way you think it does...
    Well worth a listen.
