Mom, wife and caregiver. Variety in my music and book libraries. I love a good romance or mystery. In order to be worth my time and money there needs to be some good characters, a good plot and a length to make it worth my money. I will follow authors, series or even readers.

Meet Kolt Raynor. A Delta Force operator and one-time American hero, he is still trying to make sense of his life - and duty - after a secret mission gone bad. Three years ago, in the mountains of Pakistan, Raynor made a split-second decision to disobey orders - one that got some of his teammates killed and the rest captured. Now he’s been given a second chance to do right by his country, his men, and himself. But Raynor’s shot at redemption comes at a price.

What other book might you compare Black Site to and why?

Along the lines of Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series - the main character is willing to break the rules to do what will best serve his country and take care of his friends

    Any additional comments?

Fast paced, high intensity, heart pounding excitement! I love a good story about people in the military; stories of honor, courage and commitment. Dalton Fury’s Black Site definitely is that. The author is detailed in his descriptions of characters and situations. Dalton’s background in the military and Special Forces is evident as you read through his novel and can picture the decisions that are running through the mind of his leading man.

The reader is a good one for this – he has the strong steady voice to carry both the intensity of this story and the strength of character of Kolt Rainer. The author Dalton Fury is former Delta Force troop commander who lead the search for Bin Laden and author of Kill Bin Laden.

The characters and intensity of the volatile world of the Middle East keep your heart pounding as the minutes pass in this novel. Much like Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp series – the reader becomes invested in the hero, holding your breath until you discover how the story unfolds. I could easily imagine following Colt for years as I have many other series based in the Special Forces, Black Ops, and CIA saving the world genre. I would recommend anyone who likes a strong military hero, flaws and all, to pick up this book and give it a read.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

What was one of the most memorable moments of Outlander?

When Claire chooses to stay with Jamie. Discovering the power of love

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

Personally I love Claire. There are a lot of great characters but Claire has something in her that gets you to keep coming back - then of course there is Jamie!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Even time couldn't keep their love apart!

    Any additional comments?

There is a slow start to this due to the set up required for the series but stick it out! I've reread the whole series several times now and am anxiously awaiting the TV series on Stars as well as the upcoming new release.

If you could sum up Dom of the Dead in three words, what would they be?

    Grief, Acceptance, Love

What did you like best about this story?

It really does remind you to live not for someday but grab onto love when it is available

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, the narrator did a great job.

Who was the most memorable character of Dom of the Dead and why?

Randall - a ghost as a dominant was intriguing and done beautifully

    Any additional comments?

Dom of the Dead is a beautifully sweet tale with interesting twists and turns of grief, living life to the fullest and accepting your own desires. This is a story of being too afraid to reach for what you really want until it is too late. We see Carson, the female protagonist, going through the early stages of grief when her best friend Randall dies in a motorcycle accident before she had the courage to reach out for more than their “friend zone” relationship.
Randall is a dominant man who has dreamed of his best friend for years but did not want to “taint” Carson and their relationship. Throwing a fantasy one night stand style dating service into the mix is an interesting way to throw the two characters together with Randall as a ghost. The end is a beautiful twist of fate – reminding you to reach out for life and hold on with all your strength while you can, after all tomorrow is never promised.
The reader is a good choice. You can believe she is Carson with the intonations and strength of words of a woman struggling through grief. The author and reader combination do a beautiful job of bringing this twisting story together.

Would you try another book from Karyn Gerrard and/or Audrey Lusk?

    Maybe… Reader, yes. Author, maybe

Would you ever listen to anything by Karyn Gerrard again?

Not if I had to pay for it.

Have you listened to any of Audrey Lusk’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No

What character would you cut from The Governess and the Beast?

There are only two characters… both? Or fill out the characters more

    Any additional comments?

Snuff novella. The reader is a good one with the breathy tones expected of this kind of story – even the slight accent to assist. It certainly has its hot parts – it is labeled as BDSM erotica however and this is a misnomer there is no dominance and submission in any real way, there isn’t even any real playtime other than a lot of sex; even a bit of kinky sex.
Would I recommend this story? Well, the characters are decent; the setting skimmed over but filled out could be nice – overall as a short read – sure if the reader knew what they were getting into. Would I spend an Audible credit on this? No. Though the reader is a good one and I might look to see what else she has done the story was short and had little depth. Did I come to care about the characters? Well, lightly that could have become interesting if the story had been further filled out but they weren’t well developed enough.
If this author/reader combination came up in the freebie section I might give it another chance if I was looking for pure smut but otherwise I wouldn’t give the author a second glance. This novella is essentially what my mother thinks romance novels are – all sex, little character development and no depth. There are a lot better stories to hold my attention and fill my time. Think porn on paper and there is this novel.

Would you try another book from E. L. James and/or Becca Battoe?

Yes, EL James wrote a better than average romance novel, nothing more.

    Any additional comments?

My issues with this series is more that it portrays anyone interested in the BDSM lifestyle as damaged, which is far from true. Insulting in fact. There is no real attention to community, communication, little to safety, etc. As a romance novel it is better than average, as a novel around a BDSM couple as here it failed miserably

This story takes a story verging on kink and BDSM but takes it out of the tawdry and reminds the audience that just because "my kink is not your kink" doesn't make it bad.

I could listen to George Guidall read a textbook and I love this series so any chance for him as Mr Q is a positive in my book.

Before Stephanie can even step foot off Flight 127, Hawaii to Newark, she’s knee deep in trouble. Her dream vacation turned into a nightmare, and she’s flying back to New Jersey solo. Worse still, her seatmate never returned to the plane after the L.A. layover. Now he’s dead, in a garbage can, waiting for curbside pickup. His killer could be anyone. And a ragtag collection of thugs and psychos, not to mention the FBI, are all looking for a photograph the dead man was supposed to be carrying.

Put more relationship stuff between Stephanie and Ranger. That really brings the story to life.

If you could sum up Gone with the Wind in three words, what would they be?

Gone with the Wind could only be described as romantic, one-sided, and irreverant

What did you like best about this story?

The love story between Rhett and Scarlett has always been a go to story for my romantic heart. I do love however Scarlett's attitude about getting through whatever life sends her way.

What three words best describe Linda Stephens’s voice?

Decent reader, not one of my favorites but a decent reader

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favorite part of the book is the end when Scarlett realizes the people she dismissed were those that held her together and gave her strength through the years.

    Any additional comments?

I really wish Audible would publish the audio version of Scarlett - Alexandra Ripley's sequel to the story. I loved it more than the original.
