"What fun!"
I really enjoy Grisham novels, but this is now my favorite. Twists and turns continually. Intriguing relationships. If you read people, there is really humor underlying what is going on between certain characters. Had NO CLUE whatsoever about the ending. Was completely wrong. And I'm almost never wrong. This, to me, helps make a novel really great. LOVE IT!
"thought provoking"
this is one of my favorite books in the ender series. the social structures and interactions between cultures is terrific. you see how we also judge others by our own experience/beliefs and presume to impose them.
a great "read".
"oh well"
i respect that there be novels for all tastes. i was excited to get this audio book since i'm second generation norwegian. i didn't realize it was going to be so much description of bodily perfection and function volume i mean VOLUME ..of all manner of sexual function..etc.. and so little else... if you like to read about perfect breasts, skin, hard muscled male and a lover like a "stallion" .., this is for you. i'm going back to things like Amy Tan with The BoneSetter's Daughter, etc.
just to tell others who want to find the novel i was looking for that this isn't it.
for those who like this type of...you enjoy.every author should truly have fans. i'm not being sarcastic.
"exquisite"
the most unique and beautiful tale. so rich with the fullness of life in the entire range of emotions. and i cannot imagine ever reading this. it would lose so much without the narration. it is almost as if a friend is personally sharing memories of family through time.
"funny"
it's really funny that those who want to think from the da vinci code that The Church is evil, also consider that this is a work of fiction. actually the da vinci code is a work of fiction, while this is not.
sound bite mentality. frightening.
"condemned"
Ms Kirkwood has been found to be a "false prophet" and banned by the CHurch.
"great"
I really liked this Grisham novel, in part because it takes us to unfamiliar surroundings. Unfamiliar people. If you need just the normal everyday, don't read it. If you like adventure, this has the twists and turns AND some interesting background.
"here's to the Truth!"
The last two years in my life were spent battling for disability pay from my employer's insurance provider. It took so long it turned our lives upside down. Rainmaker, although not about disability payoff, still has an uncanny similarity to our experience. Funny thing, a short time ago we saw that real company on tv being interviewed with basically the same scandal of "Great Benefit" in the novel. Great telling, and sorry to tell you it can be the TRUTH
