I'm more disheartened than surprised that there are so many bad reviews of this completely one-of-a-kind masterpiece. If you're looking for 'easy comedy', or something deserving of a 'laugh-track', this is not for you. But if you're insightful, observant, and appreciative of odd-personality types, and can read between the lines...you're a few clicks away from the hands-down funniest piece of work you'll ever come across in your entire lifetime.

This is GOLD! And there's nothing else like it!!!

What a smooth, deep, and spellbinding voice this author has. (I almost thought it was Jeanne Moreau, from The Lover) It's almost hypnotizing! The story itself is very well written, and filled with emotional depth. I love the many scintillating descriptions of Indian food that made my mouth water, and the way so many little stories are told along the way between the mother and daughter. The author has a remarkable gift of welcoming you into a foreign world and making you feel quite at home. This was a credit well spent.

If you thought 'I Am Not A Serial Killer' was good - are you going to love this one! It's everything the first book was, only better, stronger, darker, richer, deeper...and about ten times more scary.

Here we see how rapidly John's sociopathic mind advances after his first kill. We know more about what drives him, what stops him, what he desperately longs for...and it's not pretty, I'll say that much. But what a thrill, what a psychological ride into the ominous caverns of a sick and clever mind. How did Dan Wells come up with this - it makes you wonder!

I've read a lot of books about serial killers, and some written by the killers themselves, and I've got to say - this one tops them all! If it weren't for the supernatural parts, you might think it was a memoir written by a real sociopath.

I can't wait to listen to the third - which is downloading this very second, even as I write.

This is just the kind of story I long for - one that makes you think and forces your imagination into the darkest crevices of the human mind. One that makes you just a little more leery of the nice teen boy who cuts your grass and shovels your snow. What's so scary about John Wayne Cleaver? Everything. But most of all, his very ordinariness. I have never come across a work that combs so thoroughly the inner-most thoughts of a sociopath - to the point that it makes me wonder about Dan Wells, himself! And with a nice lemon splash of the supernatural - it doesn't get any better than this. Except for the next book, Mr. Monster, which was even a darker shade of evil. Ohhhhh...these are well worth the credits, believe me!

I'm not sure if this style of writing is common in Japan, but for my American ears it was horrible. There were perhaps twenty sentences in a row that all started with the same three or four words, which happened over and over again throughout the entire novel. It was so darn annoying and distracting - I had to force myself to keep listening, and didn't quite even make it to the end.

I thought it was going to be something similar to Amy Tan's Joy Luck Club - but it in no way compares. It could have, if the author used a different approach, but this is almost more like some weird kind of foreign poem that lasts for four hours - but it's not really a poem, either. I don't know what it is, but I know the tedious rhythm of it is a headache waiting to happen.

I remember the movie from long ago, and never even knew it was from a book...until now. And what a book it is! Once they get into the woods and on that boat, believe me...you are going for a ride right along with them!

You're going to feel thrashed around on that white river, you're going to smell the moss and molds of the forest, you're going to grab your side and wince when one of the characters gets hurt. You are going into a place where you'd never dare enter outside of these 'pages', so hang on, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!

Wow - this is one hell of a story! It's filled with moment's that make you pause and wonder, "What would I do if given that chance?"

One again and as always, the characters are so alive, you would think you actually know them from somewhere; like an old friend. This story is about so much more than Kennedy. It's layer upon layer of the human condition, with rich turns and challenges most of us would never want to face. The end brought tears to my eyes, and left me with such mixed emotions and internal conversations, my brain will be busy for a long time trying to sort it all out.

The narrator is phenomenal! One of the BEST I've ever heard! If there's an award, better give it to HIM! No one would deserve it more!
