  • A Cat Was Involved: A Chet and Bernie Mystery Short, Story 1

Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Ten years ago, Craig Johnson wrote his first short story, the Hillerman Award-winning "Old Indian Trick". This was one of the earliest appearances of the sheriff who would go on to star in Johnson’s best-selling, award-winning novels and the A&E hit series Longmire. Each Christmas Eve thereafter, fans rejoiced when Johnson sent out a new short story featuring an episode in Walt’s life that doesn’t appear in the novels; over the years, many have asked why they can’t buy the stories in book form.

If you could sum up Wait for Signs in three words, what would they be?

    Taste of longmire

    Any additional comments?

I enjoy the short stories but do wish they were longer

In the LAPD's Open-Unsolved Unit, not many murder victims die almost a decade after the crime. So when a man succumbs to complications from being shot by a stray bullet nine years earlier, Bosch catches a case in which the body is still fresh, but all other evidence is virtually nonexistent. Now Bosch and rookie Detective Lucia Soto, are tasked with solving what turns out to be a highly charged, politically sensitive case.

What disappointed you about The Burning Room?

I love the Bosch series and was so excited about the next installment but mr Welliver was terrible! I could hardly stand to listen more than a few minutes at a time and finally gave up all together. Not only were the voices all the same they were all in monotone. So very disappointed. I hope this changes for next book. I doubt they would but wish they'd redo this one.

Would you be willing to try another book from Michael Connelly? Why or why not?

Yes I'd listen to the next one if NOT narrated by Titus Welliver

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Titus Welliver?

Dick Hill or Len Cariou. They have performed many of the series. Mr Cariou is the "voice" I associate with Harry Bosch. This is a popular series I don't understand why you would change the voice anyway
