Joseph Patrick Kennedy - whose life spanned the First World War, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, the Second World War, and the Cold War - was the patriarch of America’s greatest political dynasty. The father of President John F. Kennedy and Senators Robert and Edward Kennedy, 'Joe' Kennedy was an indomitable and elusive figure whose dreams of advancement for his nine children were matched only by his extraordinary personal ambition and shrewd financial skills.

Would you listen to The Patriarch again? Why?

    In a heart beat..........Well written & a very interesting "20th Century" personality

What other book might you compare The Patriarch to and why?

Bios but this is a little different. He has his moments but mainly a very focused personality

What about Malcolm Hillgartner’s performance did you like?

    Yes .....No problem

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

He was a filmmaker & would "comeback to produce".

    Any additional comments?

If you are in anyway interested in the "Kennedy's"..be sure to read / listen.

Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

JerryL says: "An Absolutely Incredcredible Audiobook!"

  • The Spanish Civil War: A Very Short Introduction

This Very Short Intoduction integrates the political, social and cultural history of the Spanish Civil War. It sets out the domestic and international context of the war for a general readership. In addition to tracing the course of war, the book locates the war's origins in the cumulative social and cultural anxieties provoked by a process of rapid, uneven and accelerating modernism taking place all over Europe.

Jose says: "Very Short Introductions is the best collection!!"
    "Very tedious...."

What did you like best about The Spanish Civil War? What did you like least?

    An interesting subject.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

It gets bit boring after awhile !!!

    Any additional comments?

This could have been more interesting. It read like a textbook rather than a viable history
