Not one of the greatest books I have listened too. I had a hard time trying to keep all of the characters straight. It wasn't blended well. I almost felt that this was a second book in a series or something because it felt like the characters should have more history with each other but you didn't really know how they were all connected.
In a nutshell, not great unless you are into angry characters and confusing story line.
The description sounded much more exciting than the book was. The title led you to believe that it would involve more hauntings, but it didn't. I do have to say that I didn't see the ending coming but was still disappointed.
The story line was just too farfetched to believe. To think there could be that many dense people in one area and all in the same book was too much to go with. I had some hope in the middle that it would pick up the pace and get better but it didn't
I will condense the book for you: Woman with secret in her past marries spineless man who won't stand up to bigot father. Woman sees crime, runs; enter clueless FBI, more boring story line, book ends in less than exciting finish. Reader kicks self for wasting time with such horrible story.
This book was a great way to end the series. The story of three sisters has come full circle and did not disappoint. Great story, great narrator.
I love the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike books but the narrator on this one ruined the entire book for me. What kind of narrator pronounces word incorrectly??? I was going to let one mispronunciation go but when it kept happening with different words, it was too much. I couldn't even concentrate on the story. Honestly I don't understand why you would have multiple narrators for the same characters and story lines, it ruins the experience. Save yourself the agony read this book and avoid the audible version, its awful.
I took a chance from my normal category and got a home run. This story was funny, the characters were interesting and the performance was great. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for some fun.
This is one of those books that would be better reading than listening to. I think the story would have been more exciting and intriguing reading it vs listening to it because you could use your imagination more. I think that would have made the setting and characters come to life more for me. Because there were so many things going on in the book it was hard to picture them in my mind.
These books are laugh out loud funny. I love the characters and the storyline. Its a really fun listen. I would definately recommend this book and the first 2 in the series to anyone looking for some fun.
This is the second Harlan Coben book I have tried and I believe it will be my last. This had far too many sub-plots going on to keep straight. It may have been a better choice to read vs listening to so that you could go back and refresh your memory on who all the characters were.
It felt like some of the minor characters were thrown in and not explained well enough to understand their purpose.
Not a very satisifying listen at all.
This is one author that I will keep reading/listening to. I love her books. The characters are funny the story keeps your interest. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a light, witty and entertaining listen, to choose this one.
As I first started listening to this book I almost gave up, thinking it was going to be one of those long drawn out wordy books that left you feeling unsatisified. I couldn't have been more wrong. I love the characters, the wit and how it tugs at your heartstrings. I laughed, and yes I did cry. The bits of wisdom passed along to Chase by his "uncle" are great and I love the way he words them. This book makes you feel like there really are people in the world that care enough about others to face painful decisions everyday to help them. This should be on a required reading list for everyone, to teach us how to love each other.
