Yes, but be sure and read the other ones first. I don't think this would be a very good story without the back stories.

Not at first. It took a bit to feel engaged.

I love that for me, he IS Odd Thomas.

I really liked this story, although, it did take me a bit to feel captured by it. It was quirky and a bit silly in the way that is entertaining. I could see it being played out in my mind as I listened. I did feel that I always knew what the characters were trying to figure out. Then you just keep feeling the anticipation of their own revelations of what was really going on.

I would recommend it to a friend who likes the whole time travel idea, although, that all seemed like a side note to the developing love story.

I saw in another review that Jayne Castle writes under the name Amanda Quick. I have read 2 one of her series there, and now, knowing that information, I can say that I do understand why I felt familiar and comfortable right away with her story telling style. I did like the characters and the story. I just was not clued in on this whole "thru the veil" thing, and I think I felt like I should have read another book about this place they are at before this book. One that would let me know some background.

Other than that, it was entertaining, and I will be reading Book 2.

This one was a creepy, fun, spellbinding story. I could feel myself in each of the character's place in the story. It seemed hard to tell sometimes for me and for the characters involved, if they were doing things because of their own internal struggles or because the haunting caused them to do it. Especially in the beginning.

It was defintely a suprise ending. I did not see it coming. Sad, but a conclusion, which this reader personally likes to have in a scarey story. I would definately read it again. I have already recommended it to some of my friends who like haunted stories.

After the first book, I knew I would read another. I definately enjoyed this story more. I felt like I already knew everyone a little, and got to get more details in this story.

I really like Gil's style. He doesn't try to be something he is not, and is true to how he feels. I Love MJ's ability to push thru the fear, because she knows that only she can really handle the details of getting rid of the bad spooks in the end. Everyone else helps, but she is the one with the power.

The story line on this mystery was also better. I really did like the twist and turns. I had figured some of it out about 1/2 way thru, but I did enjoy the author's way of getting the reader to the truth of the matter.

All in all, I really enjoyed it, and will go on to read the third book in the near future.

I had a bit of trouble at first getting into the story and the characters and feeling connected to them. I kept listening, and I think I was just needing to get familiar with all of the players. I did enjoy the character development and by the end was feeling enthused about getting into the next book in line.

I read a lot of very long, detail oriented stories, ie, the Outlander series, Game of Thrones, etc. I like to have a few series going that are not so involved and are fun and I can slip in quickly between the other type. This will definately be there for me along with Janet Evonavich's books and I also have loved "The Cat Who...." series of mystery books.

I don't ever read with my eyes, so cannot answer this question. But I do love to hear the voice of the narrator.

Both of the weddings! There is no way to say that one or the other was most memorable. I was floored by both. Of course you are expecting something bad to happen, but without spoiling either event for someone who hasn't read this yet, all I can say is "OH MY GOSH!"

Only in the previous two of this series. He has kept very steady with his voices for the characters thru out over 120 hours of reading that I have heard so far. I can not imagine now, if the next book was read by someone else. It just wouldn't feel like the same story.

When John is with the wildlings and finds himself not wanting to hurt them, and his falling in love with one of them, and yet he still has his oath to keep. I think that most of my moved moments were with John. What he chooses at the end, and how he chooses. You really don't know until then, which way he will go.

So far, of the 3 books of the Game of Thrones series, this one has been my favorite. I LOVE all of the character development up to this point, but now we know who the main players are and as they all keep meeting challenge after challenge you get to see them changing and their characters just get richer and more layered. The young characters development is really amazing. I just can't say enough about how much I am really loving this series. I am getting ready to read #4, and I just can't wait.

Very thought provoking.

It made me think of Sue Monk Kidd's, A Secret Life of Bees, or The Mermaid Chair. Not that the topics were the same, but the feelings that I had reading it made me think of these two books. It made me feel sad and contemplative and I understood her confusion over feeling good about the good things that were happening at a time when she felt like she shouldn't be happy.

This one was my first. I did enjoy her. She felt like she was Lennie herself, telling her story.

It really was. I wanted to know how Lennie was going to handle some of her very tough situations. I didn't want to wait. I wanted, and hoped for her that it would mostly turn out okay.

It was more than I expected. One of things was how the new family could make such a big difference in Lennie's families lives. It was thought provoking. So many people shy away from others that are in a time of grief. These boys, and the one who liked Lennie, especially, didn't seem afraid to get right into the thick of it with them and helped bring light into their sadness.

The developement of the characters. They just kept getting more and more interesting. Especially the "Butcher's Boy", but also the group of people that look for people like him.

I feel like I should not have liked the main character, but as it went along I just couldn't help myself but to want him to get away.

I loved how he set up one of his enemies to take to fall for a murder that was of his doing. I really liked how he played all of the mob bosses against each other and got them all confused as to who was doing what to who and why.

I am a house painter and so I listen to books all day while I paint. This was one, that when the day was over, I just didn't want to turn it off.

I LOVED the very end. I won't spoil it for anyone, but it made me smile. I can't wait to read the next one in the trilogy, Sleeping Dogs.

Sleeping Dogs is one of my most recent favorites of this genre. It kept me listening even when I needed turn it off and do other things, I couldn't wait to get back to it.

It did in the sense that the main character was not always aware of what was really going on. He made a lot of wrong assumptions that led to a lot more deaths. I just kept waiting for him to put it all together.

The "Butcher's Boy" himself. His complicated thinking. You should really not like him, yet you find yourself rooting for him.

No, it didn't feel like that kind of story. It was engaging right from the beginning, and you keep wondering when two of the main characters might meet. That was also a great part. Not what I expected and I am glad for that.

I am now really looking forward to reading the last in this trilogy, The Informant. I have it downloaded from the library so I will be into it yet this week!
