Here is the saga of a people who call themselves the Clan of the Cave Bear; how they lived; the animals they hunted; the great totems they revered. But mostly it is the story of Ayla, the girl they found and raised, who was not like them. To the Clan, her fair looks make her different - ugly.

    Overall

Wonderful story. I stumbled across this series when audible was offering a special on the first book in a select set of series. Thought I would give it a try since I had seen and loved the movie Clan Of The Cave Bear. Firstly ... I was surprised to find that it was a series. I fell in love with the "real Alya"! No comparison between the movie and the sieries. I immediately HAD TO HAVE all 5 books. So much was changed and even more was left out that I am still amazed. Well written and while the reader is on shaky ground with the first book ... she improves dramitaclly as she continues the series, finds her footing with it, and develops and makes distinct each character by book 5 ... adding to the charm of this wonderful story. So much so that I can not imagine anyone else reading it. I can't wait for the 6th book. Thank you audible for re-opening my love of the Clan and my interest in pre-history. Well worth listning to!

Acclaimed author Michael J. Sullivan created instant best sellers with his spellbinding Riyria Revelations series. This first volume introduces Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater, two enterprising thieves who end up running for their lives when they’re framed for the death of the king. Trapped in a conspiracy bigger than they can imagine, their only hope is unraveling an ancient mystery - before it’s too late.

While not my favorite, It is fun and enjoyable story. Just finished the series and found it a perfect filler while waiting for the next installments of my fantasy favorites (WoT final and Rainwilds). Even though "somewhat" predictable ... this was a fun and interesting story, very likable characters and quite well read. If you like WoT, Mistborn and the world of the Rainwilds you will enjoy this trilogy.

I was looking for a filler while waiting for the last WoT .... Codex Alera filled the bill. my only complaint is that "I want more". And the BEST part is ... we have an author who delivered a complete story in a timely fashion. If you like WoT and Miistborn ... you will love the Codex Alera series. And there is NO waiting YEARS for closure. l LOVED IT. And try to form, Kate Redding delivers an excellent reading.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history—or religion. Yet the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world....

While the story is true to Brandon's style and creativity .... I am completley pissed off with what is CLEARY (at best), half a darn book. Either it was split for financial blood sucking purpose or, Brandon never completed it. And I refuse to beleive the later since TOR has proven repeatedly that they are fan blood sucking pros. I project that a "new" Mistborn novel, (the other half and already completed), other half of this novel will be released no later than early 2013. As for me ... the insult and feeling of pure "rip-off" this time is just to much. I know I am just one person and my purchase won't make or break TOR but I am done. Already painfully in for a pound & penny on WoT. WoT fans know what I mean. Read if you must but beware and clear on what you are stepping into. As for me ... I no longer have the time patience or energy for blood sucking games.
