"Dull and longwinded"
I felt this story just dragged on and on, the author I am sure felt the details were meant to add perspective to the story but I found it interrupted the flow and lost interest many times and in fact for the first time when listening to a book I tuned out whole sections of the book.
"Somewhat long but a great book"
I agree with some others that at times this book was a little long and a little too in-depth with Russian culture. However, looking past that the story was gripping and if you think of the possibilities of this having happened, truly amazing.
"Great read...a little long"
I really enjoyed this book as Stephen really made you know the characters as if they were your neighbours. At times I did find the detail a tad long in the tooth, but overall I completely enjoyed the book.
"Fantastic read"
This was my first Jeffrey Archer book and it won't be my last. Although I had an idea of the story there was nothing predicatable about it. It was entertaining and a fantastic read.
"NOt his best work"
Although this was a fun read, I can't say it was that compelling or held my interest, but if you want something light hearted for a quiet day then by all means go for it.
"Gripping from start to finish"
After reading the Da Vinci Code I was afraid this would be very similar and redundant - I couldn't have been more wrong! This story is compelling and intriguing from the beginning and keeps you engrossed right thru to the end.
"Predictable and boring"
I was looking forward to this latest Sydney Sheldon but I found the story line quite boring and the writing was unbelievable. It was almost as if he was trying to use a few words as possible as scenes jumped at light speed from one setting to the next.
