This is a amazingly funny novel that really have a few deep and touching moments thrown in. I highly recommend getting this one.
I really loved this book. I think old Russell makes many great points and throws in enough clever wit and one liners to make this thoughtful and entertaining. Russell goes deep on many subjects and casts them in a new and old light. You start to get the picture that Russell is much more deep and highly intelligent then his outward exterior would lead most to believe. The narration is excellent and keeps you hooked in. It might nor be for everyone, but I think everyone and benefit from it.
The Wolves of London is truly a hidden gem. Some might say it starts off slow, but it builds pace quickly and it stays interesting throughout. There are many twists and turns and the story is imaginative and the world goes from mundane to horrifying rather quickly. The characters are intriguing and well flushed out. This book if without a doubt worth your credit. I am eager to read the next book in the series.
First off this is an outstanding memoir. Ron holds nothing back in this telling of his life's story. The story is written in such a way that it alternates from crass to extremely deep and insightful. When Perlman goes deep you really have to prepare yourself for some mind blowing revaluation about mans personal and existential struggles in the world. There are these larger than life characters that make appearances throughout this memoir, which force you think "damn Ron seems to know or has worked with damn near everyone in the film industry". This is an outstanding work that I think anyone would benefit from reading. The cherry that's on top of this cake is that Ron narrates this book himself and as a narrator he's at the top of the heap in terms of talent and delivery. If you have never listened to his reading of " City of Thieves" you really should he delivers a world class performance.
Lawrence Block can write one dang good detective novel. This series isn't going to be for everyone. This is a thinking mans detective novel which is pretty grounded and realistic. I have really fallen in love with this series. If you think you might like it I think you should give any one of his novels a try.
I really got pulled into this book when I first started reading it. It was creepy it had that air of menace that's really hard to cultivate, but then it started to turn into a lame teen love story and the female protagonist really starts to get on your nerves. By the time the climax hit I was really checked out. My advice is to pass on this one.
I was looking for a scary book for because it is the Halloween is quickly approaching. I have to admit this book was indeed scary. Joe Hill has a understands how to set the creepy factor high. This is a great book.
I picked this novel up after I read the first in the series. As much as I liked the second novel I have to admit I liked this on even more. They book has an excellent group of bad guys and the protagonist is so over matched he is in constant danger. This one is more heavy on the action than the second novel, but still with enough detective investigation to make it extremely interesting.
This is a really awesome detective novel. The author really has the skill to set tone and setting brilliantly. This really is a extremely interesting tale, with enough action to keep the reader entertained, and a solid and fascinating plot line. I liked this one so much as soon as I was finished I had to get the first book in the series.
Folks Brian isn't lose and steam in this steampunk novel. For his second installment in the series it was another hit.
Wow this is a great first installment in what looks to be a very promising series. The time and setting are completely their own and the characters are likable. The adventure is a of the grand military epic adventure flavor and it's all very well done.
