"GREAT LISTEN!!"
I first read this book on a jersey shore beach vacation in the mid 80's when I was a teenager and from that point I was hooked by the authors and this form of fiction.I have since read all of Niven and Pournelle's work and listened to the few available audiobooks offered by the authors and Inferno is still my favorite book after all these years! To describe Inferno wont do it justice, you just have to jump in. I will say, however that the authors have turned the much feared revelations version of hell into an adventure. I'm not sure Dante would have approved but I am sure he would be amused.
"finally a true gem"
There are two parts to this book, the beginning or backstory which tries to squeeze in as much as possible so we understand Pi. Possibly too much info is given and the story gets a little murky with detail. At this point I actually considered dropping the story and starting something else but I stuck to it and Im thankful I did. The second part starts with Pi and his family boarding a ship to travel to Canada. I wont go into anymore detail so not to spoil a beautiful story but this is a case were there are 2 stories going on at once and you don't spot this until the end. Pi's time in the raft may be one of the best crafted stories I have ever read/listened to. I strongly recommend Life Of Pi as you wont find a better read anywhere on Audible, ENJOY!!
"light on science fiction, heavy on....umm.."
Spin IS enjoyable and Im not exactly sure why. We don't really get any SIFI until the last 20 mins. of Spin. How it won the Hugo Im not sure but it did have a good enough story to hold this listener to the end.I did find myself invested in the clearly formed characters and decent plot but I couldn't help think this novel belonged in the fiction category. Scott Brick did his usual great job so I would recommend Spin but if hard core SIFI is what you're after this may not be worth your time.
"Zombies!!! Yum!.."
The problem with zombie books, for me, is there aren't enough of them! Z.A. does a great job here crafting an epic zombie apocalypse. The military aspect was key to the stories success and the narrator did a great job as well. Keep it up Z.A. I will be expecting more zombies...Stat!
"INCREDIBLE LISTEN!!"
There are few audiobooks that are so good that you feel compelled to listen again after you finish but Replay was that book for me. I didn't re-listen because I missed anything, but because I simply enjoyed it that much. The great question Replay leaves you with is what would you do differently given the chance to relive a portion of your life? It keeps you thinking and that alone is worth a good review, then throw in well crafted characters in the script and you have a classic!! enjoy the listen!
"not bad.."
I enjoy good apocalyptic/plague books but have been pulled in by bad novels one too many times. I was pleasantly surprised with Hater. It delivers on all levels and the true to life pessimistic attitude the narrator brings just makes the listen that much better. Great job by David Moody!!
"wait,...what?"
I am 11 hours into listening to this turkey and have no idea what it is about. I am not even sure who the main character is. I have read Bear before and enjoyed his work but he must have been tired writing this lame tale. Mr Bear, I want my money back! Have Blood Music recorded into audio form so people can appreciate your better work. For anyone considering this purchase, trust me.. stay away.
