This is one of my all time favorite series. Joanna Walker is such a kick ass heroine. Lots of philosophy, but also, lots of 'what the hell' lets go for it. Great cast of characters. Well written, unique perspective on urban fantasy.
An Incredible Bargain!!! I Loved this book. It is the first Brockway book I read, and I cannot say enough good things about it. I almost never 'reread' a book, but this book has some of the Best romance language I've ever read. Literally teared up... pretty rare for me. I was fascinated by the historical review, loved the heroines moxie--no dumb heroine here!
How have I been a reader for so long and Never read a Neggers novel?? OMG, SO Great. Carol Monda did a wonderful job with narration, but I just totally loved this book, since I love art, and romance and mystery, now much better can it get? Now I'm busy trying to buy more Negger's Audiobooks!!
Heath has written a book that is not just about love, but about honor, and friendship and a really interesting mystery. Many unique characters, and excellent descriptions in this book. Not just your quick 'steamy' regency novel. Loved this book.
Slow, Slow. Slow story (lots and lots of redundancy). Seriously nneded to be an abridged version, and even then the 10 pages of action would hardly have balanced the hundredes of pages of sheer boredom. Anne Flosnik is a Slow reader, with an over dramatic performance, her voice was monotonous and not pleasant to listen to... of course the content probably didn't inspire her to read it better.
I've been buying Audible books for a while but this book will make me look closer at 1) the author 2) the reader and 3) the reviews...
This is an easy listen, and a fun book for anyone doing heavy lifting with complex books.
This is one of the best books I've 'read' in years. I bought it out of interest in the city of Prague, land of my ancestors... and also the art angle sounded interesting. Little did I know I was in for a Ride. One interesting twist after another, great characters, wonderful discussions of long lost art/music/pick something precious, it's probably in this book. Then throw in Cold War CIA operatives, and really, why wasn't this book longer?
And... Who is Magnus Flyte? I've been trying to find another book by the author, and wow, another mystery! Magnus, if you are out there, reading this, please write another books soon. You are my new favorite author, and I already miss the characters in this book.
My advice, buy this book. You will be entranced, entertained and engaged.
I loved this first book. This one was Long, but not long enough to wrap up story lines in a satisfactory manner, even for a sequel (in the middle of a sequel). The ending was just so 'WTF?" I kept thinking I was having trouble with my ipod.. but no, it's just a flat 'am I missing some pages?" ending.... here's hoping the final ? book will have better flow. Yes, it's not the Source by James Michener, but it does go back and forth from now to then, just not with any sense of purpose.
There's lots to learn about Dresden and his cohorts, and this series of short stories is one way to get caught up. It's great to have a story or two with his other characters, like his White Court Vampire Brother, as well as where wolf Will, and Murphy being the lead characters.
Jim Butcher is awesome. One of the best series Ever. However, I wish he could give Dresden a little down time occasionally... poor guy never even gets to sleep, much less Sleep With someone... seriously a terrific book... love the reintroduction of characters.
