I'm aware the audio and print versions are different but I listened to the bulk of the story versus reading it. Some members of my Book Club read the print version so they were able to fill me in about the scenes omitted from the audio version. Either way, it was a moving story. I cried like a baby throughout the entire book. It touched me in so many ways. I'm a dog person and my beloved dog passed away. My mother had a similar illness so I was moved about the Eve-story. All-in-all, I adored the story and the writing. Enzo was a wonderfully compassionate funny and "human" dog. Bravo!

No, I haven't listened to Leyva before. I will look for him though. He did a wonderful job performing this book.

Whereas it was a good overall story and concept, I would not listen to another book written by Forstchen nor one performed by Barrett. The story was a peak into an existence I had not been exposed to before. It was a scary eye opener for me! A frightful wake-up call about what could happen to our nation. For that, I am thankful that Forstchen wrote the book and thankful that I got to listen to it. In that sense, the story changed my outlook about life and every aspect of our society. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the story since I finished it. However, it wasn't the best-written book I've ever read. The dialog was "preachy" and seemed to be longer than normal conversation would go. No one I know waxes eloquent and spouts extended paragraphs of informed and historical data. In addition, the narration/performance didn't allow me to sympathize with the main character. The narration made him unlikable, I think.

I recommend this book. I've been inspired by the story and the beauty of the prose ever since I listened to it. I'm inspired to hike, but not only that. I want to challenge myself like Strayed to achieve the great "thing" in my own life.

Cheryl Strayed is a gifted writer and storyteller. I love the way she weaved the story together, and how she painted such a vivid picture of the setting and personalities she met along her journey. Truly brilliant was the the way she conveyed her emotions. Genius.

No, I have not listened to any of Dunne's other performances.

My Mother also died from cancer so it was painful to relive the whole experience.

I'm a new Cheryl Strayed fan. I wish her continued success.
