I had a hard time getting into this book. The characters never really grabbed me. Also, the plot was unbelievable.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

This was a wonderful book. I wished it would't have ended. It just makes me sad to see that not so much has changed since the 60's.

For Jennifer Boylan, creaking stairs, fleeting images in the mirror, and the remote whisper of human voices were everyday events in the Pennsylvania house in which she grew up in the 1970s. But these weren't the only specters beneath the roof of the mansion known as the "Coffin House".

This was a very well written book but for the most part it wasn't a ghost story. There were a few creepy parts in there but that wasn't the point of the story. But, if you wanted a glimpse into the life of a transgendered person, with a few ghost stories thrown in, this is the book for you.

I really enjoyed this book. The main character got into so many scrapes that I cringed when something was going right with her because I knew that something bad was coming. The end was a little weird, though.

It took a long time to get into this book, but once I did, I was hooked. The characters are very "real" and I couldn't wait to find out what they were going to do next. It was a little hard to realize what "time" you were in, since the book goes back and forth through many time periods.

Thirty years ago two sisters disappeared from a shopping mall. Their bodies were never found, and those familiar with the case have always been tortured by these questions: How do you kidnap two girls? Who or what could have lured the two sisters away from a busy mall on a Saturday afternoon without leaving behind a single clue or witness? Now a clearly disoriented woman involved in a rush-hour hit-and-run claims to be the younger of the long-gone Bethany sisters.

I was a little nervous about trying this author because I didn't know anything about her. I was very pleasantly surprised. I had also guessed the plot twist, but it was still a wonderful story. I actually "knew" the characters and I was sad when it was over.

This book was wonderful. The story was very well told about an interesting subject. I was taken aback a bit because it wasn't just about Callie. There were large sections devoted to telling about her grandparents and parents in order to get to the present story.

If you don't like a musical background, don't worry, it doesn't last long. If you listen at work or around children, beware that there are a few racy parts and cursing. (I got caught off guard a few times with people in and out of my office)
