Yes I would, it was so freaking AMAZING, I did not expect this book to be that good. it's not another sweet romance without anything else of substance that makes for a good time passer. Going into the Darkest Minds, I didn't really know what to expect. I never heard of Alexandra Bracken or Amy McFadden but together they are pure perfection. I love dystopian novels are one of my favorites of 2013.
Ruby at the age of ten and placed in a government-run rehabilitation camp for kids like her - kids who, for whatever reason, began to show signs of extraordinary abilities. Trapped at camp for six years, Ruby believes she is exactly where she belongs after what she did to her parents.
I did occasionally find myself wanting to yell at her in frustration but those moments were small and far apart. The main character was smart but not a Mary Sue, she made mistakes and this made the book better to listen to no one is perfect.
It was fast paced and somewhat surprising. I hated the idea of being able to accidentally erase someone's memory of you. That feeling kept me wanting to know how this trilogy will end.
Solid job all around.
That ending that ending that ending.
Yes the storyline was really boring and Evie really got on my nerves. Goodness you can't save and love everyone. She keeps making the same mistakes over and over again: making a bad situation worse. For someone who played sport she is not a very good team player. For heaven sakes girl you are a new Angel who barley knows anything listen to the experience Angels and learn a thing or two and then fight fight fight. Reed was also a little overbearing still being over protective and keep Evie in the dark. He's been around long enough to know better. Loved everyone else which is why my rating was not lower.
Emily Woo Zeller was great as always.
I really enjoyed the first book and got through the second book just fine, but this I really didn't like thank goodness for Zeller performance because I would have stop listening if it was someone else reading.
Everything was laid out in the open finally, there are decent people out there willing to give you a second chance.
Okay so she got away, now Hannah needs to learn from your past mistakes and make better choices.
Really!!!! Hannah knew what she was getting into when decided to sleep with this married man. How foolish was she not to protect herself from getting pregnant and or contracting a disease. You have to look out for number one (yourself). This book took things to the extreme. Hannah made mistakes that a child not a full grown woman makes. She had her eyes wide open.
Aiden's wife is the really victim here. He gave her a disease which led to her infertility and he breaks their marriage vows. Yeah he's the type of guy I want my child to bring home to met me....Not!!! I don't agree with the treatment she received by the halfway house, her mother and brother-in-law. No one should be treated badly for making a mistake, non of us are perfect and we all fall far from grace.
LOVE and compassion is the greatest medicine we all need in our lives.
This book spent more time focusing on what someone wore, looked liked, drove, ate, and the eyes the eyes enough with the eyes. I can't believe this book got more than 2 stars. This story when no where.
This story really should have been wrapped up in one chapter. Just tell the guy aleady about his dirty partner.
Witty, entertaining, gross.
I love Tommy and Mike.
McDonald's for one and the highway chase. The internal dialogue throughout this book made me laugh so hard, I love it.
If you like zombies, there is enough of them for you, If you like humor this book is more your style. I wouldn't want to live in this world, but Mark Tufo's vision made it a great ride. I can't wait to get the next book and I am so glad I don't have to wait for it to be released.
I couldn't imagine anyone else narrating this series. Perfect timing every time. Sean Runnette I am a fan now.
Cole, many layers to this guy. I didn't see that ending coming.
Sorry Amy, but I don't like your main character voice. Please give them some more life. I have been putting off getting this book and the 1st one because her. However I did like the story.
Can't wait for the 3rd book.
Yes, I need to remember all the jokes.
I need to get the next book. I have some unanswered questions.
The Cat fight between Mike and Tim.
This book was so funny in so many ways. Too much internal dialogue though, but that's where a lot of the funny jokes came from. So I can live with it. I wasn't sure if I would buy the next book, but I want to find out what happens next.
I don't know, I was not impressed with story, it was so slow and nothing really happened. I guess I must read way too much to be entertained by this story.
Yes I did like the narrator which was the was the only reason I finished the book, I just kept hoping the story would get better. Not sure I will continue with the series. Can I get my money back?!!!
Not sure. Nothing happened throughout this book. America's ever-changing feelings for Aspen and Maxon was frustrating. This book didn't have enough plot for a whole book. A change of scenery might be great for all.
Not all she is a boring narrator. I guess I have been spoiled by more seasoned narrators how act out the stories and not just read.
I wish America would just leave already, I am so tired of this love triangle. This story was so predictable. Why can't these characters learn how to communicate and avoid all of the miss understandings.
Nothing happened throughout this book. There was no rime or reason to it and it was just America going back and forth between Maxon and Aspen and crying over her feelings. This book could have been rolled up in the Selection and should not have been splint into two separate books. Also keeping the identity of her ex-boyfriend currently guarding her safety and hated royalty? It is going to blow up in her face.
With all that said I will still get the last book, but it will be on the last of my list.
Kept my adrenaline pumping, just as Ashes did, but the gruesome descriptions also left me a bit grossed out! After the first few chapters I finally got the hang of the fast pacing and the jumping around of points of view. It was really fast paced and intense and it felt so real sometimes. I loved both book, but Shadows had me saying NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO a lot go back go back don't switch the pov now!!! The characters voices were very distinct and it was interesting to catch a glimpse into each character's lives and I did want to know what happened to the others at the same time so in the end it was okay. I can't believe I have to wait for the next book!!!!! When is it supposed to be released?
Hunger games meets Walking dead.
I don't have a favorite scene, (spoiler alert) but I never want have to bite into a zombie's face and taste decaying flesh or dead blood. Or wait not only having to worry about being killed and eaten, but now worrying about sex crazed zombie boy who can't wait to get into your pants yuck.
Ilsa J. Bick does it again with this second installment to the Ashes trilogy. Shadows has very much left me in a whirlwind of mixed emotions. Yes, I can follow multiple plot-lines, but the problem is in the climax and falling action, but there was at first too many characters having too many problems in too many places for the third book in the series to competently wrap up the story. How will Ms. Bick fix all of those people's problems without it sounding like a check list? I have fate in you not to disappoint me, I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I would highly recommend you read Ashes before you read Shadows. The world has changed and what is left is older people, young kids, people who for different reasons didn't change and the zombies or as they are called in these books The Changed or Chuckies.
