First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

Eric says: "Wish I had bought the UNabriged version"
    "The Passage"

I found it hard to get into in the beginning, but once it got going I really got into it. The narrator is very good.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Robert says: "It doesn't get any better than this!"
    "Great story!"

This is an excellent beginning to the Stormlight Archives! It has interesting characters, a very mysterious yet well conceived form of magic, and the story leaves you wanting more. I am excited to see where B.S. goes with the next installment. If you liked the Wheel of Time series then you will definitely enjoy this.
