Yes, I'd recommend this book. I'd also say buy you a hard copy. This is one I'd read over and over again.
I liked finding out that Julian had never had sex with any of the girls he's taken. It was the one surprise I didn't see coming.
She does a wonderful job with the male voices! I like that she makes you "see" them as well as feel and hear them.
This whole series made me rethink how I see other's who are "different" from me. If you let your mind go...you can read between the lines and see how we are all prejudice and bias toward other races, creed, colors and classes.
I was so pleasantly surprised that I had to write this review as soon as I finished the book. Why? Because for the first time I didn't find myself angry at, or wanting to slap the leading lady! This is the first and only book were I didn't have to make it pass unnecessary misunderstandings between our hero and his lady love. The problems they face in getting together was perfectly acceptable, they fit! I would have liked more interactions after the wedding, but even the short conclusion is exceptable! Overall it was a decent story. As always Rosalyn Landor gives a wonderful performance!
This was a very good story, well written and faith building. My only problem with it, the narrator was bad. She read with no feelings and very little passion. If you can endure that and make it to the end of the story, it is well worth the credit!
I don't know why it took me so long to read these books, but I'm so glad I did. This is a wonderful futuristic series, and well worth the price of the book. I don't like to post spoilers so I don't give away the book plot, but if you like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, you will like this one, although they are NOTHING alike. Again, I'm so happy I got into reading/listening to this series, and I'm looking forward to the new release coming out in May I believe.
What can I say! Wow! Just...Wow! I so loved every part of this story the only problem I had with it...I'm done! No more to read until next year! OMG! Talk about a lonnnnnngggg wait! Ms. Ward can't write fast enough for me. This book takes you and grabs right from the first word till the last! She has put the sexiest book boyfriends in writing for all to pant over, and boy do you pant!
There is nothing bad to say about this book. Nothing!
WoW! What can you not say about the Black Dagger Brotherhood series? You can't call them boring, or dull. You can't say they are badly written or inconsistent. You can't say they don't pull you in and have you waiting with bated breath for the next installment. Ms. Ward has really hit the mark with these brothers!
This book is about the Wrath, who is the reluctant king of the vampire race. He is strong, smart, wise, compassionate and handsome! What more could you wish for? Because of these outstanding traits you over look the fact that he is blind! Who cares! It in no way takes away from the character.
Beth is half human half vampire. She is also the daughter of the now deceased Black Dagger Brother Darius. She is also well written, strong and intelligent. In my opinion, she turned out to be perfect for Wrath.
I look forward to the next installment of the series in order to see how each couple fares.
I could not make it past chapter two! The narration was atrocious! She hit my nerve with every word she spoke! This story I must read for myself!
I'm a reader who likes to hear the "whole" story. That being said, I try to find good books that are written as a series. If a character grabs ahold and becomes real while reading its like they become family. The hero of this story is one who may fit that bill. Hawk is strong, handsome, honorable, and loyal. He's what most ladies want in their hero, so you will find he wins a place in your heart. Adrienne, who has been pulled from the future, on the other hand comes across, ( to me at least) , as being unsure of her own mind and feelings for most of the book. She was so back and forth that I was astonished Hawk found anything to love about her. She just never seemed to use her " modern thinking" brain for anything! She comes across as gulible and naive for the whole book! Considering she was from the future I expected better. She made me want to thump her in the head and scream, "Wake the @%$# up". I had to remind myself that she was just a character in a book.
Overall, the story caught my attention enough to want to continue the series, but I'm hoping the next book, To Tame a Highlander, is much better. Yes, I would recommend the listen because Phil Gigante does an excellent job and brings each character to life, and that's what we all want while we listen!
I rank the J. R. Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series as some of the best audio books you can own! I love each and every story in the series and can't wait to hear what happens next! I would rank these books at the top of my list for "re-listen"!
It is so hard to pick just one character as my favorite, but if I really have to choose it would be King Wrath! In each and every book he has been a powerful, strong, driving force to the brothers. But if you really get into the books, you will find yourself pulling for each and every brother in the series. Even the supporting characters find a place in your heart.
Always Wrath! His voice seems to come to life when he reads as the king.
I have to admit. I didn't know how I would feel listening to the love scenes between two men. Ms. Ward did an excellent job with all the love scenes, and I found myself wanting these two, ( Qhuinn & Blaylock), to get together. The other part that got to me was when Layla goes out to the meadow and Xcor comes to see her. I am hoping he can somehow get out of the wrong side of life and get together with Layla.
If you buy these books, start from the first book and work your way through. They are well worth the price and will not disappoint you in any way!
The plot and the overall story was very good. Enjoyed hearing how they come to love each other.
Didn't really have a favorite character.
I would change how she reads! What I mean is, she READ's well, but seems to make a statement sound like a question, or a question sound like a statement. Seems to add comma's where there should be none, than she sounds flat and uncaring when she should be very excited! Really made it hard to listen to the whole story.
I like how our hero comes to understand that he is in love with his new wife.
I'd recommend the book but not read by Traci Odom! I really like the story line that Jennifer Ashley has taken with her writing. I even like her historical romance writings, and this series does not disappoint, but the narration really made the story dull and hard to listen too. If you want to read this one, I say get the hard copy you will enjoy it much more!
I would compare this book to those written by Jacquelyn Frank. I really enjoy her series also!
No!! No!! NO!!!!!!!
I could see this being a tv series. Who could star...maybe Jason Momoa. That is one fine man!
If you like reading the whole series and getting to know the character in each book, Jennifer Ashley delivers, but do yourself the favor, don't try to listen to Traci Odom read them. You'll just be disappointed!
