Even in Grundy, Alaska, its unusual to find a naked guy with a bear trap clamped to his ankle on your porch. But when said guy turns into a wolf, recent southern transplant Mo Wenstein has no difficulty identifying the problem.

I was at first a little hesitant because the title just seemed so silly. I'll get pretty much any werewolf book I can find, so I kept it on my wish list to look over some more. What really got me interested were all the positive comments I saw. Upon finishing this audio book I have to agree with a lot of what was said! And the title actually fits really well with the mood of the book! Some of the wordage used in this story was unexpected and really great, and the characters were nicely varied and unique. Mo's parents and her interaction with them was wonderful, I loved every minute of it. I have to admit the amount of sex in the book as a bit much, I wasn't offended and I didn't really mind it but that sort of thing really isn't for me-I'm more into the action and the meat of a story. The narrator was good, she had different voices for each character-which to me makes for a great audio book, and while I would have loved to have heard her speak with that southern accent that everyone in the book seemed to love hearing Mo speak with, the narrator still did a good job. She was a great choice for Mo and did her snarky personality justice.

Would you consider the audio edition of Why You're Not Married... Yet to be better than the print version?

I think that either way a person gets the information in this book is worthwhile, however, I personally loved being able to hear the author read her own book and convey her thoughts and feelings as if she was your close friend.
This book is wonderful, there are so many "ah ha!" and "it makes so much sense now!" moments. I will be reading this book over again very soon. I feel that the information in this book is so important, because it teaches women to love themselves first-which sadly, many of us women do not do so well.
I love the idea of starting from within, and her straight-forward, caring and honest take on the motives and personality traits that are keeping us from being able to let love in is a tremendous step in the right direction!
This book should be read by so many more people, men and women-we all could use a little help letting love into our own hearts.

What about Tracy McMillan’s performance did you like?

There is something wonderful about having an author of a self-help book personally do the narration. It makes you feel more connected to the information and the author. It makes me want to have her on my speed dial and call her up when times get a little tricky.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I definitely did! But I also feel that by having to take time between listens gave me the opportunity to really think about each section and how it pertained to my life.

    Any additional comments?

I definitely recommend this book to yourself, your friends and your loved ones!

In the instant #1 New York Times bestseller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, Steve Harvey gave millions of women around the globe insight into what men really think about love, intimacy, and commitment. In his new book, he zeros in on what motivates men and provides tips on how women can use that knowledge to get more of what they need out of their relationships.

What made the experience of listening to Straight Talk, No Chaser the most enjoyable?

This book is wonderful, insightful and full of information that I wish I would have had when I was younger. He covers so many aspects of relationships in such a kind, loving and straight to the point manner that never made me feel talked down to or preached to in any way. I felt like I was being told these things by someone who genuinely cared about his readers.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Straight Talk, No Chaser?

There were moments where I was nodding my head furiously, laughing out loud or shaking my head in realization at all the times that the information in this book could have benefited me years ago!

What about Steve Harvey’s performance did you like?

I don't think anyone else would have been better as a narrator for this book. Hearing him talk about the information he is sharing was wonderful-he was firm, straight forward and caring-like the father/big brother/best male friend that all us women need when it comes to understanding not only ourselves, but men!

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The key differences between men and women and how much over-analyzing we do over the actions of men when the answer is so much more simpler than we thought.

    Any additional comments?

I believe this book is not only a wonderful read for women, but for mothers of young men as well. It teaches women to see things from a different perspective, and helps us to raise sons into respectful and caring men.

Where does A Dog's Journey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The book is amazing, wonderful, exciting, sad, joyful, heartwrenching... I have been urging everyone I know to read/listen to these!

I have always had dogs in my life, and my career is focused around them, so it was a natural choice for me to check these two books out. The way W. Bruce Cameron gets all the nuances of a dog's behavior, their little quirks and why they do things is hilarious! He captures the innocence and love of a dog's heart, and really creates such a beautiful doggy soul. It all seems perfectly natural and it's clear he's been around and loves dogs!

I will definitely be listening to these again in the future, these are not a one time listen!

Who was your favorite character and why?

You really feel connected to every one of the main characters. Of course, your heart is so connected to Toby/Buddy/Bailey/Molly/etc. He/She is so entwined with the ones she is connected to, that the humans all become a part of one whole.

What about George K. Wilson’s performance did you like?

BRILLIANT. WONDERFUL. What an amazing narrator! I am going to look into any other audio book performances he has. He takes on different voices, but never once does it seem forced or cheesy. It works perfectly with each character! Really adored his performance in both books!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I couldn't wait to hop in my car each day, and regretted having to turn it off and wait to listen to it again!!

    Any additional comments?

I urge everyone I talk to read these books, they are wonderful! Perfect for dog and animal lovers! Loved every second of them!!

I keep looking at the books in my library with a wistful sadness, wishing I was just starting the series for the first time again, wishing I could discover it all anew again. I could have just kept listening to Mercy's life-I'm really sad that it's over. These were the audio books that got me hooked on audible. I really hope to find another series like this! Ten years after the publication of Wicked, beloved novelist Gregory Maguire returns at last to the land of Oz. There he introduces us to Liir, an adolescent boy last seen hiding in the shadows of the castle after Dorothy did in the Witch. Bruised, comatose, and left for dead in a gully, Liir is shattered in spirit as well as in form. But he is tended at the Cloister of Saint Glinda by the silent novice called Candle, who wills him back to life with her musical gifts.

What would have made Son of a Witch better?

Gregory Maguire is an excellent writer-I fell in love with Wicked and was eager to start this audio book. Unfortunately, I just can't get myself to finish it, I have tolerated the narration as much as I can, but I can't even hear the story through the voice.
All but Liir talk in almost the same voice: Nasal, dripping with disgust and disdain, and sometimes with broken and ever-changing accents through one statement. I appreciate that he is giving some accent to the characters, attempting to give them each a unique voice, but he shouldn't do it if he can't even do it well, or consistently.
Each word is it's own phrase, he pauses between each word, making it hard to immerse myself in the story. Often he was putting the wrong emotion to what a character was saying, example: having them say something with complete disgust that was in complete contradiction to him writing that they said it in a bored manner.
I think one of the main things was how he made Elphaba sound-just like the witch from the movie. Nasally, slimy, full of anger and bitterness and overall plain cheesy!
I fell in love with her passions, her pain, what she stood for and the tragic life she had. She was a human character, not some 1940's cheesy, hunched over

Would you recommend Son of a Witch to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend the book, but definately not the audiobook!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

YES! It is the one and only reason I can't finish it!

He's Just Not That Into You, based on the popular episode of Sex and the City, educates otherwise smart women on how to tell when a guy just doesn't like them enough, so they can stop wasting time making excuses for a dead-end relationship.

Jenny says: "A good basic message."

    Overall

I've enjoyed every minute of this audiobook, it had me laughing out loud at many parts, the example letters from women were so familiar, either out of my own experiences or out of the experiences of women I have known. Two of the letters really took me aback as I felt like I could have written them myself. You would almost think that a book devoted to enlighten women that the man they have been with or are with now isn't that into you would kind of bring a person down, but it's uplifting, empowering and they are constantly boosting up the listener's self confidence. I would recommend this book to any woman, I think the advice and knowledge it gives the listener is so important, so useful and put in such a witty and knowledgeable way!

These books are exciting, romantic, adventurous, dangerous, interesting, clever and fun-I became so immersed in these books that while reading them I was constantly looking forward to getting in my car to hear more! This series has definitely got me hooked on Patricia Briggs! Also check out her Cry Wolf duo of books, which deals with the same family of characters. GREAT SERIES!!!

I highly recommend the Mercy Thompson Books, and the Cry Wolf duo that branched off of this. Great adventure, great action, perfect amount of romance without being wishy washy or graphic at all, just wonderful!
