I can't believe some found the narrator sub par. This guy did a great job with tough material and did so in a way that kept the story moving. I could never have read this book by myself and finished it. My hat is off to the narrator, excellent job. Bravo.
As for the content of the unabridged book, be prepared for lengthy dissertations on what the color white means, how whale is best prepared and whale anatomy. This book is best listen to in small segments but in the end you will be left with a sense of accomplishment for sticking it through. You will also be rewarded with a much better understanding of what it must have been like to be on a whaling vessel in the late 1800's.
Never read the printed version but the audio version is very captivating. My buddy started listening to it along with me in the car and bought the printed version just so he could finish the book. He liked it that much.
In introduction where they talk about the art auction and what transpired around that purchase.
No but this one is a winner.
Your first impressions should not be discounted so much because there are many, many things our brain picks up on that we are not conscious of because our brain is that good.
This book will give you the freedom to trust your intuition a little more and to stop questioning your first impressions so much.
Yes, This book is a good listen, excellent for the driving and will put you in a good mood.
His story of looping for Bob Newhart
No this is the first
The Real Caddy Shack.
Good Book, Good stories told well.
Yes, because I learned that there really is no limit to what the human body can endure
This is the first one. If flowed pretty well.
Yes, but it was hard for me to listen for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time.
Probably not. It was interesting but not to the point where I would go see it in the movie theaters.
After reading the book I ended up buying a pair of minimum running shoes to see if it will improve my running performance.
Actually I liked the fact that Jim read the book. He was a very good narrator and because of that I felt more connected to his story.
"The Big Bam". I highly recommend this book also because it is about baseball and the life of Babe Ruth. Even though Jim Abbot never achieved the status of Babe Ruth their paths through baseball were similar. Both had highs and lows in their careers, days when things went their way and days when they did not. I think Jim would have done himself some good to have read this book when he was younger as he might not have been so hard on himself when he got older.
No, but I think he did a wonderful job at narrating and I would like to see him narrate more.
Only because I thought that was a funny endearing nickname he was given on one of is teams.
Good Book. Hope Jim narrates more.
Don't have any suggestions, its not a bad book, its just not the kind of book that interests me that much.
I don't think I want to visit Afghanistan any time soon, as even the main character ends up in the United States.
Good story and somebody will probably make a movie from it. However, I would wait until it comes out on DVD.
It brought a new perspective to me about how and why the trial was a complete failure.
The step by step analysis of what took place the night of the murders.
When Fuhrman goes through his analysis of the crime scene and puts together how he thought the crime unfolded. Very interesting and it all makes sense.
A Travesty of Justice
If you think OJ was innocent then this book is not for you because it is hard to argue with the facts. If you are curious about what happened the night of the murders then this is the book to read.
Not really, we all knew the ending before we bought the book.
Yes, because it offers additional details leading up to the event that have not been shared in other media and film coverage.
No it was well read and he kept it interesting.
Nope, this book put the period at the end of the sentence. No need to dwell further on it.
To all who have served, a big thank you for your service and our freedom.
I just kept getting better and better and better. What some people go through in their lives is unbelievable.
When they were in the ocean trying to survive.
Yes, the book was well read.
I can't listen to one book for that long but I cut through it pretty fast as I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
They should really make this book into a movie. It would win big across the board.
Near the top. It really spells out how 911 came to be right from the start. Who would have thought the depth of it all.
No Easy Day. Because that book put the period at the end of the sentence for the Looming Tower and 911.
I have no preference.
Things you never knew about the road to 911.
My friend was listening to the book in my car and liked it so much he bought a copy so he could finish listening to it. He also was amazed and his eyes opened.
It ranks about in the middle as I purchased it for instructional purposes to improve my golf game and not so much for entertainment. With that said it was well put together and I thought Bob did a good job with narrating it.
For me it's more like what I found interesting about the book and its contents is that it actually works IF you can do it, which is not so easy. For the longest time I have fought over thinking my game and found it really hard to just relax and let it happen. The first time I tried it, after I listened to the book, I was able to shoot 2 under for the first 5 holes and then my brain kicked in again and I went back to 2 over after nine. Anyway, it is work in progress and thanks Bob for putting into words how to disengage my brain. To bad I didn't know about this 25 years ago when I was in my 30's but now I'm having fun playing around with it.
There is no favorite scene as I liked the whole book for its informational content.
No, I never listen to a book in one sitting. I don't have that long an attention span.
Good book for someone trying to improve their golf game.
