Sarah MacLean's first book was fun, her second not so much and this one downright boring. Rosalyn Landor does a great job, as always, but there's really not much for her to work with here.
I remembered liking this book when I read it years ago but unfortunately, the audio book just wasn't very captivating. The narrator was kind of annoying as was the heroine of the story. The premise of the story was interesting but it couldn't overcome the other difficulties that hold this one back. Not horrible but not great either.
Another lovely story from Lorraine Heath but the reader is disappointing, especially after we heard the other stories in this series wonderfully read by Susan Ericksen! All the characters sound the same! Where is Susan when we need her?!
Suzanne Enoch's books are usually really enjoyable: good characters, interesting plot and enough fun and sex to spice things up. This one was just plain boring. The plot was kind of silly, the characters rather dull. As one other reviewer said, other than physical attraction for each other there was little else there. Their own angst was pretty much only skin deep. She was just shallow and that he would give up his convictions so easily just because he has the hots for a Sasannach wench. Pretty Ho Hum over all.
Loved this book! An engrossing story and a very interesting hero and heroine. I have listened to it twice and enjoyed it both times. I would definitely recommend it.
You know how you wish a good story would never end? Well, this story seemed endless! I couldn't wait for it to be over! The heroine was SO whinny and silly I felt like hitting my head against the wall and shouting: could this woman be any dumber! Really. Don't waste your credit. This book will just make you grind your teeth in anguish!
I loved the way the Alex and Lilly were both such strong characters. Their arguments and eventual deep love was lovely to listen to and I enjoyed every minute. The plot is more interesting than the usual "hero must save heroine" plots of many romances, and the ending brought a smile as I listened. I definitely recommend this one!
A nice story with some interesting twists, good characters and a fine narration. Definitely go for it!
I can't believe some people gave this four stars! After 2 1/2 hours I just couldn't stand it any more and had to stop listening. The heroine is SO unappealing! She is a completely empty headed, uninteresting person! And the narrator gave me whiplash switching back and forth from a British accent to her American accent. Some of Lorraine Heath's books are so good, I can hardly believe this is the same author who wrote "Between the Devil and Desire" for example. I definitely wouldn't recommend this one!
I really liked the first two books in this series but it was really hard to like this one since the narrator was so incredibly irritating. I felt like I was listening to a Munchkin from the Wizard of Oz. Or maybe she just spends too much time sucking on helium balloons! Anyway, she is so bad that it's hard to get through the whole book. I kept looking to see how much time was left hoping that it was almost over! It's really hard to evaluate the story itself since my enjoyment of an Audible book depends heavily on the narration. If I didn't care about that, I would just read the book myself! So I recommend that you do that with this particular book. If, like me, you want to see how the trilogy ends, listen to the first two in the series and then read this one in print instead of listening.
Lorraine Heath is like that little girl in the rhyme: when she is good she is very, very good but when she is bad, she is awful. Unfortunately, this book is of the second type! After about 2 hours I kept looking to see if it was over yet! It features a "heroine" with a weak back bone and a brain the size of a walnut. But just when you think it can't get any worse, along comes her pea-brained sister! She sounds like an opera singer warming up: me me me me me!! Unfortunately, the hero doesn't offer much more either. Forcing myself to get to the end of this recording was torture. Anne Flosnick does a good job with the reading as she usually does, but she sure doesn't have much to work with here. I definitely recommend that you not waste your money on this one.
