David Mitchell, who you may know for his inappropriate anger on every TV panel show except Never Mind the Buzzcocks, his look of permanent discomfort on C4 sex comedy Peep Show, his online commenter-baiting in The Observer or just for wearing a stick-on moustache in That Mitchell and Webb Look, has written a book about his life.

I like david mitchell, i like his cleverness, i like his wit and timing, i like his honesty and his ranting on a myriad of subjects. His voice can be a bit grating but is minor compared to the rest. I also like the way he weaved his story around his walk around London.

Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

I like Miranda and her story, but not her constant discussion with her 18 year old self using 2 voices. There was just too much of it and I only lasted a couple of hours before it all wore a bit thin.

In the wasteland of what used to be America, their battle to survive is only just beginning.

There are few audible books I cannot finish, this was one of them.......and solely put off by the narrator. There are some narrators who when reading the female parts put on a voice that makes the female characters sound stupid, moronic, slow, etc etc, and this spoiled it for me and I could not keep listening. Do they really think women sound like that?

I unfortunately listened to this after Stephen Frys autobiography and it was like listening to Noddy after listening to War and Peace. I found it a disappointment and to have it narrated by someone other than herself was an added disappointment.

An audio book you can totally get immersed in, story great, narration great and you really feel as though you you are in the 14th century. This is the second in a series but you don't need to read the first to enjoy this.

Very funny and (almost) stranger than Alexei's fiction....Alexei knew he was doomed to be different the day he was taken to see Sergei Eisentein's Alexander Nevsky instead of Walt Disney's Bambi. Born on the day that egg rationing came to an end, Alexei grew up with his parents and the Soviet Weekly. Each year they holidayed in Eastern Europe, where they were shown round locomotive factories and the sites of Nazi atrocities.

Viviane says: "Entertaining with a fair dollop of self criticism"

His story mainly deals with his very young and early life growing up with his communist parents and his holidays in eastern europe. I was hoping that he would talk about his later life on tv etc but perhaps that will come in a later book. Notwithstanding that I enjoyed the book, his narration and his very very unusual young lfe.

Great story mostly well narrated, but a lot of the characters are voiced by separate people or one using many silly voices. Some of the voices sound like spike Milligan trying out new characters for the goon show.
