  • Unintended Consequences: Why Everything You’ve Been Told about the Economy Is Wrong

According to Unintended Consequences, the conventional wisdom masks the real causes of our economic disruption and puts us at risk of a slew of unintended—and potentially dangerous—consequences. It’s a fascinating and contrarian case for how the economy really works, what went wrong over the past decade, and what steps we can take to start growing again.

In this riveting landmark autobiography, which reads like a novel, Academy Award and Emmy winner Louis Gossett, Jr., masterfully transports us to 1840s New York; Washington, D.C.; and Louisiana to experience the kidnapping and 12 years of bondage of Solomon Northup, a free man of color. Twelve Years a Slave, published in 1853, was an immediate bombshell in the national debate over slavery leading up to the Civil War.

The reader sounded as if he were talking from deep in a well with a mouthful of mush. I had to stop the audiobook, purchase the book and read it.

On the 78th floor of the World Trade Center’s north tower, no alarms sounded, and no one knew what had just happened at 8:46 a.m. that morning, September 11, 2001. Blind since birth, Michael couldn’t see a thing, but he could hear the sounds of shattering glass, falling debris, and terrified people flooding around him and his guide dog, Roselle. However, Roselle sat calmly beside him. In that moment, Michael chose to trust Roselle’s judgment and not to panic. They were a team....

Personally, I would have enjoyed this book more if it was less about god and more about Dog. I should have noticed it was published by a christian publisher. The trip down the stairwell of the world trade center tower was interesting, some of the information about the author's adaptation to his blindness was compelling, but this book is not really about the dog. It ends as a christian rant about his beliefs. Very dissapointing.
