The text of the books contained in The New American Bible is a completely new translation throughout. From the original and the oldest available texts of the sacred books, it aims to convey as directly as possible the thought and individual style of the inspired writers.

Would you recommend New American Bible to your friends? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this version. This would be much improved if you could easily reference passages. I accidentally hit back a couple of times and the recording backed up to the beginning of the book - sometimes an hour's worth of listening. Recording is very inflexible.

    Any additional comments?

This is the first time I read the New American Bible version. I guess I just prefer the King James rendition.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This story is silly and unbelievable. Let's start there. And the characters are morally reprehensible. Someone has been watching too much CSI. But the WORST is the way the story dragged on in the middle, to the point I was nearly scratching out my eyeballs. Now that I am finished I realize I don't miss the characters, and I didn't learn anything about humanity, nor did I leave with any memories.
