It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

This story was amazing. The writing was beautiful and unique and surprising. The story's point of view is a surprise as well but a delightful surprise which is ironic (you will see what I mean). The narrator was a perfect choice for this story. In fact, I feel like sometimes the sound of the narrator's voice can turn you off of a nice book. This is the not the case here. In fact, I believe the narrator (Allan Corduner) MADE this story come alive...it came alive in the language and the accent of the voices and thoughts of the characters. You will not be sorry you listened to this book.

Among the Shadowdwellers, Trace holds power that some are willing to kill for. Without a stranger's aid, one rival would surely have succeeded, but Trace's brush with death is less surprising to him than his reaction to the beautiful, fragile human who heals him. By rights, Trace should hardly even register Ashla's existence within the realm of Shadowscape, but instead he is drawn to everything about her-her innocence, her courage, and her lush, sensual heat.

After reading the entire Nightwalker Series I was needing more Jacquelyn Frank. She is honestly a genious ! I highly recommend both series-though one is not a pre-requisite for the other. Narrators are also chosen perfectly ! You will not be disapointed, and if you are, you may want to check your pulse....

As a healer, he knows her body. But it's her heart he wants. For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons---and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalena, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace.

    Wow. Suspenseful & Hot.
This was a great continuation of the first book (Jacob).
I was worried that Jacob and Bella's story would be left behind when moving from the
first book to the next. I am pleasantly surprised at how J. Frank was able to focus
on the personal story of Gideon while keeping with the plots, themes, and members from Jacob and surrounding the Demon Kingdom. It was a seamless continuation of suspenseful events including action, magic, sci-fi etc. which center around Demons, Vamps etc. while at the same time focusing on Gideon and his love.

Can't wait to get started on the 3rd.
If you are like me, and want more of storyline than just sex...this series is for you- This series really combines all elements to a Sci-Fi novel (storyline surrounding the world of Demons, Vamps, warewolves) while giving you the love and passion that make you love the characters. J.Frank teases you with very emotional, deep and passionate scenes that may not necessarily end up with just SEX. Kisses and touches in this series can make the reader just as (AND MORE) hot as the main ACT of sex.

And, just as with Jacob, Xe's narration is flawless.

Would you listen to Jacob again? Why?

YES. I could not STOP listening to this book. I was stealing myself away just to continue it. I couldn't get enough. I would absolutely listen again. Xe makes listening such a rare experience.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how heartstopping not only the sex (or near sex) scenes were, but also the action was. The plot and storyline are right up my ally. If you are a fan of an Underworld ,Sci-Fi type stories/movie PLUS a HOT HOT steamy love line- This is for you.

Which character – as performed by Xe Sands – was your favorite?

I loved Xe's performance of Jacob. Her interpretation of his voice was my favorite. However, each voice she did, I could picture them sounding that way in my head. Xe has a gift. This book was made for her to narrate...Each voice, each accent was absolutely indivualized..and real.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. Extreme reaction as in 'steering wheel-gripping' reaction. While driving down the road I was gripped by several scenes. Almost each sexual encounter by Jacob & Bella (not just the sex, but the near-sex between the two). Also, one or two of the action scenes left me hanging.
    ***Warning: Spoiler"****
At their wedding, when Lana was summoned and Bella along with her were gone. I was gripped by that moment. Devistated and needing to know what would happen next. My heart was pounding.

    Any additional comments?

I will read the sequals to this book, however, I find myself wishing there was more for Bella & Jacob.

Where does Sarah's Key rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top of my list as far as wonderful books to listen to.

What does Polly Stone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have to say listening to this book added so much to the experience. Her accents, her french language, the different voices. I would have to say she is one of the best. THIS was one of the best books to listen to. I can't imagine even knowing how to pronounce much of the words and/or names if I had read the book instead of listened to it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I couldn't stop because I had know what happened.
I was drawn into both plots. The 1942 plot and the 2002 plot.

    Any additional comments?

This is a heartbreaking story. I was so sad throughout most of it. Just the inhumanities that took place during the Holocaust. I am appreciative of this story though. We must read sad , tragic things in order not to forget the past. If we forget the past , we are in danger of repeating history. Ironically, humans are still killing one another and fighting one another based on religion.

It puts life in perspective for me and helps me appreciate all people-

Gideon Cross: As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction…my every desire…mine. My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful…except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession.…

"Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness… He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…Gideon knew. He had demons of his own.
