I had to stop after about 10 hours. Before I used (wasted a credit) I carefully read the reviews then pulled the trigger. I'm not sure why this story has such glowing reviews. To me - this is a rambling, weird, bunch of disconected nonsense. I can't take it anymore, it's just too painful.
The full cast performance isn't really the problem for me. I forced myself to get used to it. I struggled with the story.
Excellent sequel to his classic - "The Shining". This is Stephen King at his best! I am a huge SK fan. I consider myself one of his consummate readers. My only question about this long awaited audiobook was if Will Patton was a good choice to narrate this story. I know that SK is very selective about picking the best of the best to read/record his work. I enjoy Will Patton as an actor - BUT - can he give us a good performance and keep us engaged for more than 18 hours of narration? Does he have the talent and range with characters that makes a great narrator?
Answer: YES! Wow, I was pleasantly (or maybe frighteningly) impressed with Will and his performance in Doctor Sleep. I should never have questioned Will Patton. He was the perfect choice to read Doctor Sleep.
Entertaining! Great story! This has got to be the best time travel story I've ever read. I really enjoyed the ride.
I love all the references to the 60's. This brings back memories of my childhood.
