I'm a translator and lover of all things linguistics. I find that this book brings together the contents of Pinker's Language Instinct and How the Mind Works very well and makes rather complex knowledge more accessible to the lay person. This audio book was so interesting and definitely a step ahead of my understanding, so it encourages me to buy the book after all, to take my time to ponder his theories and conclusions. Thank you!
I decided to read this book because I'm a great fan of science-fiction and my uncle mentioned that this story influenced many after it. Unfortunately, I found that Calista Flockhart's reading kept me from being swept into the story. Still, the story line that investigates what makes humans "human", is always pleasant. I suggest that anyone who likes this story should read Isaac Asimov.
Inspired by the tv series, 6 feet under, I thought it would be interesting to read about what really happens after we die. The author even discusses our options, from the traditional to the enviromentally friendly. This book lead me through a reflection on what death really means to me and so many others. Facts, gore, and humour, what else could I ask for?!!
