I like the way the author goes back and forth between different stages of his life (e.g. SEAL training then childhood then war then back to SEAL training, etc.). He ties all those different things together really well so that they build on each other.

AWESOME! This audiobook started out slow, and even with the Awesome narration I was going to quit listening to it, BUT my friend who had read the entire series told me to stick it out. I am so GLAD that I listened to him because Hyperion turned out to be AWESOME! I just finished the 2nd book "Fall of Hyperion" and am on the 3rd book "Endymion".
