Nora Roberts is an excellent writer. Ms. Quigley is an excellent narrator. Altogether a first rate production.
This is my first Toby Neal. It won't be my last. Good work and well worth the listening time.
I enjoy eroticism but this, poorly written smut. I got through about 15 minutes and was bored, very bored. A plot should make itself known soonest to get the interest of the reader/listener. Not happening here. It sounded more like characters trying to get all the known sexual positions into the first 10 or so minutes. I am a Lora Leigh fan but this one puts her light under a dirty bucket. Too bad.
I generally enjoy Ms. Banks' writing, especially her "Colter's Legacy" series. I'm disappointed in in this effort. The characters natter on and on about their angst over the death of the husband. That's really boring. The narrator doesn't help. She has a very nasally voice and when a word ends in the letter P, it ends up having an F sound added in. This book just doesn't live up to her outstanding reputation.
I was very disappointed in the story line, the repetitive language, just the whole story in general. Wasn't too fond of the narrator either. Monotone reading, flat voice.
I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Leigh's series, of which this is a part. I do wish it could have been a bit longer but it fits well within the plot of the whole. The characters, while fantasy, are believable in their own world. I'm half in love with each of them as I read their stories. If one is not familiar with the series, Styx's Storm is a good place to start. This is a good read.
I'd never heard of Jim Butcher or Harry Dresden until I downloaded this first book on a whim. I should pay more attention to my whims. A delightful novel and a great narrator. I'm collecting the rest of this series.
