"another wonderful Tana French story"
It's one of the best. I love Tana French's stories, and enjoy even more the way she unfolds them.
The twists and turns of the plot were fun to follow, and kept me guessing until the end.
I loved the hospital scene where the murderess confesses. It's told in a drugged, dreamy voice, and is very compelling.
The scenes where "Scorcher" deals with his mentally ill sister were really strong.
"A quiet stately voice"
To hear the author read the work as she intended it to be heard, with emphasis where she wanted, is an extraordinary experience. The slow cadence of Toni Morrison's voice is almost hypnotic, and the sound of it will stay with you for long after you are through listening. The story is simple, the layers of meaning are not, and this is very worth listening to.
"delightful!!"
Pure pleasure to listen to and to imagine... the reader's accent and inflections are just perfect for the story.
"Pure delight"
I love this story, but I loved even more hearing it from EBWhite himself. It was absolutely perfect.
