  • The Suspect

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 23 mins)
    • By Michael Robotham
    • Narrated By Crispin Redman

Joseph O'Loughlin appears to have the perfect life: a beautiful wife, a loving daughter, and a successful career as a clinical psychologist. But nothing can be taken for granted. Even the most flawless existence is only one loose thread away from unravelling. All it takes is a murdered girl, a troubled young patient - and the biggest lie of his life.

A User says: "Top of the class"
    "So slow!"

A great performance by the narrator, but oh my gosh, the story was so slow in developing and the author went into so much unnecessary detail, which I found so boring. I gave up! I just couldnt bear listening to half an hour of what the guy was eating for breakfast, or what his wife was wearing...

  • The Hard Way: Jack Reacher 10

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 54 mins)
    • By Lee Child
    • Narrated By Jeff Harding

Late at night in a New York café army-cop-turned-drifter Jack Reacher orders coffee in a cup made of foam, not china, so that he can move on at a moment’s notice. He owns nothing, carries less, has never encountered a female colleague he can’t bed, or a case he can’t solve. But now Reacher is confronted by a situation so disturbing and deceptive that the truth eludes him.Has he painted targets on the good guys’ backs? So Reacher starts over at square one. He sweats the details and works the clues.

Lynda says: "Excellent - couldn't put it 'down'."
    "Good beginning but implausible ending"

I loved the first half but found the second part so implausible. Lee Child really needs to take into account that most people have cellphones. Jeff Harding is a great narrator, but I found this Jack Reacher story disappointing.

  • The Racketeer

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By John Grisham
    • Narrated By J. D. Jackson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Given the importance of what they do and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of the USA only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett just became number five. His body was found in the small basement of a lakeside cabin he had built himself and frequently used on weekends. When he did not show up for a trial on Monday morning, his law clerks panicked, called the FBI, and in due course the agents found the crime scene. There was no forced entry, no struggle, just two dead bodies

    Joseph says: "Hung Jury"
    "Absolutely brilliant"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Had it been a hardcover, I wouldn't have been able to put it down. I highly recommend it - Grisham is a great storyteller. The story is excellent, plenty of twists in the tale. The narration was very good, so overall I'm going to give this 5/5

  • Paranoia: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Joseph Finder
    • Narrated By Scott Brick

Adam Cassidy is twenty-six and a low level employee at a high-tech corporation who hates his job. When he manipulates the system to do something nice for a friend, he finds himself charged with a crime. Corporate Security gives him a choice: prison or become a spy in the headquarters of their chief competitor, Trion Systems.

    Karen says: "Clever and interesting."
    "I was frustrated & disappointed"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Spent the whole story wondering how on earth the story can end in a satisfying way. For me, it didn't.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

    Ending was so disappointing.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?

I wasn't crazy about the narrator.

Could you see Paranoia being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, I think it would make a good movie - I'd cast Bradley Cooper in the lead role.
