Audiobooks are great tool in dealing with my ADHD. They limit distractions while listening and I don't have to sit still. PS. I can't spell

Bill Ryder, the trash-talking undead geek from Bill the Vampire, is back and about to find himself in a whole new world of side-splitting insanity. One of the most powerful vampires on the planet has given Bill a death sentence. Meanwhile, an immortal princess wants him for an entirely different purpose, one which makes his first issue seem almost preferable. All the while, new and powerful forces have begun to emerge from the shadows around him. Are they friend or foe? Knowing his luck, do you even have to ask?

Bill is Back.My favourite telecommuting, under achieving, game programmer turned vampire is once again unleasing his unique can of wimp-ass on the vampire establishment. Bill's an anti-literary industry vampire. He's dumpy, he's bespectacled, he's a nerd but he doesn't sparkle. IMHO the strength of the series is the character's interaction. I just love the conversational banter between the characters.

You would have to read The Tome of Bill, Book 2, Bill the Vampire. It's another great story with a Khan. Bill gets to visit the far east and Sally's fun with Bill is just so wicked.

I really enjoyed this audio book and I have already started listening to book 3

Sarah Beauhall has more on her plate than most 20-somethings: day job as a blacksmith, night job as a props manager for low-budget movies, and her free time is spent fighting in a medieval re-enactment group. The lead actor breaks Sarah's favorite one-of-a-kind sword, and to avoid reshooting scenes, Sarah agrees to repair the blade. One of the extras, who claims to be a dwarf, offers to help. And that's when things start to get weird.

I really enjoyed this book. While I agree with other reviewers in that the story could use some polish, the characters and their quirky lives make this a book series I look forward to with great expectations.
Some people may find this book a bit scatter shot and the personal growth the main character experiences is extensive; but I feel it creates a strong foundation that this series can build upon. I can't wait for the next installment.

As the smallest dragon in the Heartstriker clan, Julius survives by a simple code: keep quiet, don't cause trouble, and stay out of the way of bigger dragons. But this meek behavior doesn't fly in a family of ambitious magical predators, and his mother, Bethesda the Heartstriker, has finally reached the end of her patience.

Humanity is losing the war. The once-mighty space navies have been crippled, officers and crew have been stretched to the limit and Earth herself has come under heavy attack. The end cannot be long delayed. For Admiral Smith and the crew of HMS Ark Royal, the stakes have never been so high. The one hope is to make contact with alien factions that might oppose the war.

Christopher Nuttall brings the Ark Royal Trilogy to a resounding finish. I felt the Russian political intrigue, the Royal Family Press problems, and the Royal Navy references added to the meat of the story. The series builds to an all or nothing battle for Earth's survival in the spirit of the "Last Man Standing." It's an exciting, well performed, performance.

In The Witch with No Name, Kim Harrison brings back her wildly popular heroine for one final, epic battle. Rachel Morgan's come a long way from the klutzy runner fleeing a bad job. She's faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She's crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She's lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has become something much more.

Cudos to Kim Harrison! What a Series, What a Finale!

Marguerite Gavin delivers a perfect performance. It would have been a "True Crime" if another narrator was chosen to read this last book. Rachel and Company have been through "The Gauntlet." Kim Harrison seamlessly juggles the reader's desire to provide closure for all their favourite characters while providing a fast paced, action packed roller-coaster of a story. It's an "Absolute Power"-house skirting the "Tightrope" between the demands of the "Hang 'Em High" Elves and "Unforgiven" demons. "Any Which Way You Can" slice it, Rachel, Ivy, and Jinks are "In the Line of Fire" where the "Sudden Impact" of incoming attacks make Rachel's previous "Escape From Alcatraz" seem like a spending an evening with "Bronco Billy" to "Paint Your Wagon."

"Play Misty For Me" and call me a "Space Cowboy," but Kim Harrison and Marguerite Gavin have delivered a "Million Dollar Baby!"

The Institute has successfully reanimated the body of Bayou Savage from his 200 year quantum suspension. The scientists, beleaguered by a wimpy, arrogant bureaucrat, have no idea of the unholy hell that is following Bayou into the year 2206. The opening of the portal paved an eight-lane highway for the banshees, ghosts and ghouls that spent the last 200 years in an Alcatraz dimension. The prison doors have opened and the miscreant souls are thirsty for blood and revenge.

I don't know why this audio recording was released. The recording I downloaded is full of reading mistakes that were identified by the reader and he would state "lets go back to ..." or "lets start again at ...", clearly identifying parts that should have been edited out. The reader's performance is fine but the lack of editing makes the recording difficult to listen to.

Love the Series, Love the Characters and Love the Action; with that said, I'll be blunt, this was my least favourite installment so far. Why? I hate romantic angst, especially when it seems be slapped onto a story line like Bondo on a cheap auto body repair. I get little enjoyment from the peaks and valleys of the "will-they won't-they" type sub plot because the longer it continues the greater the chance it will become the main plot. If the main characters' on again off again relationship become the sole focus of the plot, you're left with only two outcomes: the main characters are never happy, or, the main characters get happy and the series dies.

Sorry about the negative tone of my review, I really do love this series and I did enjoy most of the story. The introduction to all things American and the vilification of Edison were fantastic.

Will I get the next installment? Yes I will. I can't wait.

Most girls might think twice before getting engaged to someone like Reyes Farrow - but Charley Davidson is not most girls. She’s a paranormal private eye and grim-reaper-in-training who’s known to be a bit of a hell-raiser, especially after a few shots of caffeine. Her beloved Reyes may be the only begotten son of evil, but he’s dark and sultry and deeply sexy and everything Charley could hope for. Really. But when the FBI file on Reyes’ childhood happens to land into her lap, she can’t help herself: She opens it...and then the real fun begins.

Charley's FBI contact has spent nearly her entire career trying to solve her mentor's "Moby Dick" case. It was a baby abduction and she gives the file to Charley "I talk to dead people," in the hopes Charley can help solve it. When Charley opens the file, she opens up a big old can of "What the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks." I don't want to spoil any surprises but a clue is it will make my headline make sense.

The narration is tight and it's a great story

In a daring twist with the series, the hero of this story is the former #2 Bad Guy. It turns out he's Regan's one and only. Regan is one of my favourite characters, in moderation, she's good for the occasional funny quip, over the top action, or stupid "Val" trick but too much Regan is like an "ice cream" headache.
The back story lists the circumstances that drove Regan's man to the dark side and while tragic, to me, they didn't excuse his past atrocities. Typically, the men in this series, indeed this genre, are larger than life, super tough, mega-Alphas. The narration was great, I just couldn't get behind a normal, sort of anti-hero.

Witch and day-walking demon Rachel Morgan knows magic - earth, ley line, even the forbidden demon magic - and that knowledge has saved her life more than once. But now something - or someone - is attacking Cincinnati and the Hollows, causing spells to backfire or go horribly wrong while living vampires attack humans and Inderlanders alike. The pressures build when the city is quarantined to contain the unreliable magic, and Rachel must stop the attacks before the undead vampire masters who keep the rest of the undead under control are lost and it becomes all-out supernatural war.

Elves have come out and it's easy to see how a long, protracted war with the demons could have happened. What isn't clear is which party was the most aggrieved - history is written by the winners and it looked to me like the winners were the elves. Trent's character continues to be fleshed out and he is proving to be a most atypical elf. It appears that Rachel and Trent with their small group of friends are the only obstacle stopping the destruction of two worlds.

I love this series but I gave this book only 4 stars instead of the usual 5 because I felt the increased complexity of the story line came at the cost of the involvement, volume and depth of the interpersonal interactions of Ivy and Jinks within the story line.
