During the very first chapter of the book, maybe even the 1st paragraph, the narrater flubs up a line and it grated on me for at least 15 chapters after that. I found a hard copy of the book just to see if maybe Christoper Moore was being genius and I was too dense to figure it out and he really meant to write it the way Fisher Stevens narrated it. Nope! It was a mess up. Once I got past that it was a great book! Defeinitely not my favorite narrating, but worth the listen just the same. By the end of the book I totally forgot I about the 1st chapter screw up. :-) I will pay attention to avoid this narrater in the future though. Sorry guy!
My rule is to only listen to books in the car or at the gym. I broke my own rules for this book. I was listening to it while soaking in my bathtub and I had to turn it off, because I got so scared. I sent my Doberman into the living room to "go see" because I was afraid something was out there. This book is scary. I had to finish listening to it at the office. :-)
I didn't love it, but I liked it. It was very easy to listen to and the narrator was AWESOME!! It's quirky and fun and not completely predictable. I would recommend it. :-)
This isn't a typical Stephen King book. It's good... but in a "gets you thinkin'" kind of a way :-) Nothing supernatural about it.
The narrator was good... but I did NOT enjoy her. She sounded like she smoked way too many cigarette's. Just not the voice I would put together with the character., Also... the way everything wrapped up at the end seemed very unrealistic to me. I was very disappointed. I don't think I'll read anymore from her.
Absolutely nothing about this book struck me as non-fiction. I found it to be ridiculous :-( I tried so hard to enjoy it, but I couldn't. To be fair I only got through about an hour of it. Yawn!!
I really enjoyed this book. It's nothing supernatural... it's about good people and bad people and the evil that is inside some of us. This is in my top 5 favorite Stephen King books. It's worth the read.
For me, Charlaine Harris has been really off. I couldn't have been more disappointed with the way the Sookie Stackhouse series ended. However, this book is fresh and had some twists I didn't see coming. It's worth the read. Yay!!!
I certainly didn't expect to be entertained by this book, nor was that my intention. My heart absolutely goes out to Michelle Knight. She never deserved the horror's she faced. Her faith and tenacity are incredibly inspiring and I wish nothing, but the best for her. Having said all of that I can't help but think if she had the "right" person helping her write her story that the message would have been more powerful. I was way more moved and got to know her better on 1 hour of the Dr. Phil show than I did reading this entire book. God bless her.
I don't regret reading this book, but my expectations fell short. It's a decent read... but didn't tell me anything I don't already know or couldn't learn off of TV.
I enjoyed this book more than most I have been reading lately. It's a smooth read with a good story. Not GREAT, but pretty good :-) The narration was very good, too. A good versus evil kind of a story with a good ending.
