I liked it. I would recommend it. There were some places where the narration was off. Almost liked they pieced together parts. It was distracting, but brief. :-) It was kind of a conspiracty theory book and I didn't see where it was going. It's a good "read."
This book was completely demented and messed up. I kept waiting for it to go to a better place. It was on the verge of taking it to the next level, but it never did. It was as if the author is a pervert with some really demented ideas about sex. It creeped me out. Not in a "the book was eerie" kind of a way, but in a "I hope I never meet the author on a deserted road" kind of a way. Ewww! I feel like I need a shower.
Out of all of the Alex Delaware books, this is probably my least favorite. It was very unrealistic and I never could grasp that this could possibly be a real murder investigation.
I enjoyed this book. It was better than I expected, but less than what I hoped for. It's worth the read. It's somewhere between light and thoughtful. I recommend it, but it won't rock your socks off.
I enjoyed this. It creeped me out at times and inspired me to go buy the movie. I watched the movie Saturday night and was incredibly disappointed. Wow! The movie didn't even touch the book. Can't wait to read Dr. Sleep.
This story was young for me, but I still enjoyed it immensely. It pays homage to the idea that what happens to you as a teenager changes you, but it doesn't define you. I would have loved to have read a book like this when I was a kid.
I feel bad saying it's "okay" and not great, but it's true. The narration was very good, but it's like the author put two books together and then made the most obvioius choice at the end to merge the two stories together. It's almost as if the author only had a final chapter to do it. It was VERY predictable. I llistened to the whole thing and I have no regrets, but I was expecting more and the book didn't deliver.
This is my second book of the series and it just keeps getting better. I really like it! Looking forward to reading the next one :-)
How am I just now discovering this series? I loved it. Fun! Fast paced! Unpredictable! I already downloaded the 2nd book in the series.
I think this book should be mandatory reading for ALL high school students. I was Leonard Peacock. If I read this book back when I was in school giong through all of the nonsense that kids go through this book could have saved me. I loved loved loved this book. It's an excellent read for bully's and the kids that suffer from being bullied alike. I highly recommend this book. It's mostly just an incredibly inspiring story of never giving up hope, because things really do get better.
I had high expectations for this book. I didn't even know that Joe Hill was Stephen King's son until a friend told me. That aside, the idea of the book sounded great. I kept listening thinking that soon something would happen and I could think "wow," but it never happened. There was never a "wow," I didn't see that coming, because frankly I never cared enough about the characters.
Usually when I'm listening to a book (I only listen at the gym as a reward for actually working out) at the very least I can get through it. This one took weeks. I found myself at the gym going back to listening to music because I was so bored with the book and found it to be very slow.
I may be acting a bit too harsh and the "idea" of the book was a good one... but it just never panned out for me. It fell flat (for me). Please keep in mind that this is coming from someone who can't get through the first book of the Dark Tower series so keep that in mind if you read this review. I just can't recommend it and probably won't be reading another book by Joe Hill.
