Much like Juliet, I too fell in love with Guernsey and the Literary and Potato Pie Society. This is a beautiful story that takes you back to another period in time. The narrators tackle their roles brilliantly and ensure that listeners don't leave without needing a tissue. Truly marvelous on all counts!

One ... just one ... likeable character would be a start.

I adore mysteries, but this is one truly warped story.

The performers were outstanding, but I couldn't stand any of the characters.

Finish this horrible story as quickly as possible. I just wanted it to end!

Boo to the ending!

Jim Broadbent's interpretation of this beautiful novel is exquisite and pitch-perfect.

It reminded me a little of "The Legend of Bagger Vance" due to the revelations made by the characters.

They were all perfection! Of course, his performance of Harold Fry was the most prominent.

I kept stopping the recording in order to look up beautiful quotes from the story. This is truly one of the most beautiful stories I've read in a long time. The story, characters, and message will stay with me for a long time. I loved every second!

Outstanding narration that really puts the listeners in the period. Fabulous story that inspired me to do further research into Henry VIII. I'm hooked on Gregory! What a fabulous story-teller!

Kate Winslet delivers an outstanding reading of Thérèse Raquin. However, the story is so dark, repetitive, and long that it eventually becomes tiring. I enjoyed it at first, but the final chapters were painful. You know how this sad tale will end and by those last chapters, you just wish it would!

This adaptation is absolutely BRILLIANT! Hartley and Hewson make Macbeth extremely readable and accessible. I wish this outstanding book had been available when I studied Macbeth in high school. Alan Cumming brings the characters to life - he's remarkable! Overall, this is a "can't stop listening" kind of book. I look forward to listening to it all over again.

Once again, Jennifer Weiner, whose earlier works I adored, has let me down. Yet another one of her superficial studies of women. I actually didn't finish this one because frankly, I couldn't stand the thought of wasting one more minute w/any of these ladies; every one of them from Annie to Julia to India to Bettina - very sad and predictable creatures. I wish Jennifer Weiner would return to her fun early days. The last few books she's put out have been nothing but dull, predictable duds. C'mon Jen, give us another "Goodnight Nobody?" We need more characters like that! And yes, Janey DOES make it to this one, but I barely recognized her. On the bright side of this recording are the readers. Each actress brings the character to life. It's just a pity that they have such pathetic material to read.

Thankfully, Jennifer Weiner didn't spend TOO much time talking about the main character's weight, but it's still pretty much the same whining Weiner. Very predictable, very shallow characters, and very boring story that leaves you wondering why you care. I long for another "Goodnight, Nobody."
