Children's book illustrator Irina McGovern enjoys a quiet and settled life in London with her partner, fellow American expatriate Lawrence Trainer, a smart, loyal, disciplined intellectual at a prestigious think tank. To their small circle of friends, their relationship is rock solid, until the night Irina unaccountably finds herself dying to kiss another man: their old friend from South London, the stylish, extravagant, passionate top-ranking snooker player Ramsey Acton.

Susan D says: "A terrific examinination of relationships"
"I couldn't finish it, which is unusual"
    Overall

I listened for about 5 hours and finally gave up trying to find something worth hearing. The author can turn a good phrase, so perhaps the problem was the reader -- monotonous, flat, very little inflection. I had to go back and relisten several times because I kept falling asleep.

Amelia Peabody inherited two things from her father: a considerable fortune and an unbendable will. The first allowed her to indulge in her life's passion. Without the second, the mummy's curse would have made corpses of them all.

Carrie says: "Nice break from the usual-"
    "Highly enjoyable. Suspense. Strong characters."
    Overall

Definitely holds your interest. Good story. Good reader. Good for a listener who likes strong female characters. Spiced with humorous situations. Suspenseful.

The blaze that night at her family's pizzeria changed young Reena Hale's life in more ways than one. Neighbors and relatives would pull together to help the Hales get through the crisis and rebuild. The Baltimore authorities would arrest the arsonist responsible. But as Reena gazed into the fire, beheld its brutal beauty and destructive power, her destiny began to take shape.

    Carolyn says: "Great"
    "Good but sometimes gory"
    Overall

Good reader. Interesting story. Well-done characters. But some of the details of the events can get a little violent and gory. Not for someone who wants a relaxing read.

In this frank and funny memoir, the Tony Award-winning star of stage and screen shares her journey from small-town Oklahoma to big-time Broadway, vamping on what it takes to stand firmly on a foundation of family and faith while wearing a hot pair of Jimmy Choo platform sling-backs.

Holly says: "Salt of the Earth + Sparkles"
    "Silly"
    Overall

I liked her better before I listened to her book. She is silly and bragadocious.

It's easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won't go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that's 60 years old.

Shirley says: "You wish you lived there and knew these people"
    "The reader ruined it"
    Overall

I couldn't finish listening because I could not continue to listen to the reader.
