In a world where "witches, vampires, werewolves, and shape-shifters live beside ordinary people" (Booklist), it takes a very unusual woman to call it home. By day, Mercy Thompson is a car mechanic in Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shape-shifter with some unusual talents, Mercy's found herself maintaining a tenuous harmony between the human and the not-so- human on more than one occasion. This time she may get more than she bargained for.

Would you listen to Bone Crossed again? Why?

Yes. I love this series and this Book doesn't disappoint. They all build on the past so it is important to listen to the books in order. I was fortunate to discover this series after all six were published so now I'm waiting for Book 7 to be published next year. In the meantime I'm relistening to all of the books again, after having read them in text format, and listened in audible once already. I am an addict for Mercy!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Let's see if I can count that high. Mercy, of course, because she is strong and what every woman wants to be. Having the alpha of the pack after her, and the son of the wolves, and the vampire loves her. Then there's Adam and he terrific. Stephan is marvelous because he is so old world and gentlemanly and a vampire! Hmmm. After that it is Warren and then Ben and I love Bran and his grandfatherly approach to Mercy. I just love them all.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only heard her in this series but will listen to her in the Stephanie Plum stories soon. She is a marvelous performer.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Stephan shows up emaciated because his mistress has been punishing him. He is so needy and the wolves step up and help out. Patricia Briggs has an interesting way of telling these urban/fantasy/thrillers which make you want more and more.

    Any additional comments?

I think the Mercy Thompson series is superb. Now I'll have to go back and listen to some of her other series.

Hudson Pierce has led a life few others could even imagine. With money and power at his fingertips, he's wanted for almost nothing. He's never experienced love, however, and he's seen few examples of it in his dysfunctional family. The ridiculous notion of romance has always intrigued him. He's studied it, controlled it, manipulated it, and has yet to understand it. Until he meets Alayna Withers. Now, the games he's played in his quest for comprehension can finally come to an end.

Behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary's, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don't do 'time-travel' - they 'investigate major historical events in contemporary time'. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power - especially given their propensity for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet. Meet the disaster-magnets of St Mary's Institute of Historical Research as they ricochet around History.

Would you listen to Just One Damned Thing After Another again? Why?

This was a fun book and I'd listen again. Max is a surprisingly strong woman but emotionally challenged. I hope she and Leon can be together but it won't be easy. I liked this book,so much that I bought the next three and preordered the fifth in the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Just One Damned Thing After Another?

When she calls the pod to her and goes back to rescue the team. These scenes are so well written that you can almost feel the breath of the raptors.

What about Zara Ramm’s performance did you like?

I loved Ms. Ramm. She is the perfect narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Humans In All Time Zones Zap History

    Any additional comments?

I like the premise of time travel and who knows it may be possible. It's all relevant.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I think Harry Dresden is one of the best characters around. If you like magic and strange characters, this is the book series for you. Harry is a wizard consulting for the Chicago police to solve mysterious murders. Believe me they are strange too.

What other book might you compare Fool Moon to and why?

I like all Patricia Briggs books but this is very like her Mercedes Thompson series. Harrynand Mercedes would make a good team.

What does James Marsters bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is Harry. He gives Harry the personality and brings him to life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Yes, there just might be wizards among us. Ask your neighbor.

This classic tale is a fantastical fable of two dear friends - one of whom goes astray and is literally lost to the north woods, while the other undertakes an epic journey to rescue him. This charming, strange, and wonderful story is a timeless allegory about growing up and the challenges of staying true to one's self, and it served as the wintry inspiration for the blockbuster hit Frozen.

"You can leave the army, but the army doesn’t leave you. Not always. Not completely," notes Jack Reacher - and sure enough, the retired military cop is soon pulled back into service. This time, for the State Department and the CIA. Someone has taken a shot at the president of France in the City of Light. The bullet was American. The distance between the gunman and the target was exceptional. How many snipers can shoot from three-quarters of a mile with total confidence? Very few, but John Kott - an American marksman gone bad - is one of them...

If you could sum up Personal in three words, what would they be?

    Jack's Loyalty Excessive.

What other book might you compare Personal to and why?

None. I didn't like it as much as earlier Reacher novels and I've read them all. In this one Jack seemed outdone but he always figured out the situation. Lee Child's must have lots of index cards for reference because the plot twists and turns until it's hard to remember why Jacj was sent. That's the clue.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I like all of his performances. His voice is good for all the strong make leads but especially when the hero is military or police.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Would you listen to Lord John and the Private Matter again? Why?

Yes. I have the paperback and have read it. I'd listen to it again because every time you hear or read one of Diana Gabaldon's books, you pick up something different. Her plots are nuanced and complex so they are intriguing. Lord John was a secondary character in the Outlander series but he took on his own cult because of his nature and actions. We all love Jamie, including John Gray and now we love John Gray, too.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. The plot was intriguing from almost the first line. He is out to have dinner with a friend and notices something he can't ignore but how does he find out the source of the problem. It is all about propriety in the 1700's and then he finds out there is a murder totally unrelated. It is a great novel.

Which character – as performed by Jeff Woodman – was your favorite?

Lord John is my favorite but Harry is a close second. The way the characters are described make you know that Harry is someone who probably has soup on his vest and likes to eat to excess. He also is known to Jamie in earlier books and the characters weave in and out. Jeff Woodman does a good job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme action. I just like all things about these characters and have every book in both audible and text and e-book. Call me addicted to all things written by Diana Gabaldon.

    Any additional comments?

Can't say enough good things about this book and all the other books by Gabaldon. Get them if you have not heard them.

Would you try another book from Neal Pollack and/or Fred Stella?

Maybe. I liked the first book and thought this one would be as humorous and interesting. I was disappointed in this book in that there was too much stuff going on that was not of a mystery nature. Matt was kinda boring to be honest. Fred Stella was excellent in capturing the emotions.

Would you recommend Open Your Heart to your friends? Why or why not?

Hmmm. Not sure. It wasn't as good as the first book but if they were into yoga they would probably enjoy it. You definitely have to know yoga to understand this one.

What about Fred Stella’s performance did you like?

I liked everything about his performance. He had the voices and inflections perfect.

Do you think Open Your Heart needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, maybe one more book to capture the crazy Barlow and find out what the nutty Chelsea is all about. Matt needs closure like to go back to police work. What kind of life can you have living hand to mouth and smoking dope all day long. Go ahead Mr. :Pollack write one more.
