Would you consider the audio edition of Frozen Heat to be better than the print version?

Yes. I like the audio version of most books better than the print version. The reader brings the characters to life and adds emphasis and dialect that the reader can't possible know.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the entire story. I am a big fan of Castle, the TV show, and am pleased that Johnny Heller has the same inflections as the actor who plays the main character.

Which character – as performed by Johnny Heller – was your favorite?

    Jamison Rook, of course.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Castle is hot!

Gideon Cross: As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn’t stay away. I didn’t want to. He was my addiction…my every desire…mine. My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful…except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession.…

Where does Reflected in You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is right up there in the top 5. I love the storyline even though Eva and Gideon drive me crazy. Ga-h-h-h-h-h-h! They are so insecure and the question is WHY? But, then, it is all about how one feels about oneself and they are full of self doubt due to their abuse. I dreaded all through the book that they would finally just call it quits.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Reflected in You?

When Eva goes do his apartment and waits for him to come home. You can see their relationship growing during their mutual trauma. He says 'trust me' and 'wait.' She says how can I when you won't open up to me. They are both very demanding people who love each other and have incredibly 'HOT' sex. Whew! All of the sex scenes are memorable. Sylvia Day either has an amazing imagination or a very skilled lover OR both.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely. If I could have I would have because every time I stopped listening I thought about the events that had transpired and wondered how these two could ever resolve their different approaches to love and life. Last night at midnight I had to stop listening with 1 hour and 37 minutes to go so what did I do? I got my Kindle and went online and bought the E-book and listened to the ending. Sigh! Now I can listen to it with calm.

    Any additional comments?

Bring on Book #3 of these two. I am addicted. I was telling my husband how frustrating Eva is and how shut down Gideon is and he said 'so quit listening.' Obviously, he isn't obsessed like me. He indulges me by listening to my rants.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I am a new fan of Sylvia Day and Jill Redfield. I have listened and re-listened to 50 Shades and love every nuanced action. I feel the same about Bared to You EXCEPT for the back and forth in Eva's person. I know she is damaged and can't help herself but it gets tiresome. Yet, I liked the story and even bought the 2nd book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bared to You?

When Eva told Gideon her story was powerful. His reaction was even more powerful. He is just awesome and she knows it. He is flawed but redeemable. Both of them are in love.

Which character – as performed by Jill Redfield – was your favorite?

Eva, of course, but she did a good job with all of them. I think she got Cary just right and even Gideon came across as strong and powerful. I think she did a better job of reading this book than the reader of 50 Shades. Jill put more emotion into her responses but then she had experience so maybe that makes the difference. Anyway, she was a great narrator.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Money, Good Looks, and Good Sex! It has it all and it has Eva and Gideon.

Would you listen to Two Graves again? Why?

Yes. The weaving of the story in these novels is so complex that another listen to the entire trilogy is a must. It is imperative to listen in order.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Graves?

When Pendergast is standing on the stones with his son but doesn't pull the trigger yet...and when the full story of Constance Green is revealed. There are so many that I can't sort through them all.

Have you listened to any of Rene Auberjonois’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. I listened to him in Fever Dreams and Cold Vengeance. He is a superb narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had extreme reactions but sometimes I wanted to strangle Vincent and other times Pendergast himself. Preston and Child are an amazing duo.

    Any additional comments?

    Bring on more Pendergast!

I love everything about these books so it is hard to pick a single episode. If you like the series, you'll love this book

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve is always my favorite. Peabody was cute in this one since she was just becoming a detective but still I have to say Eve.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked them all. How many ways can Eve figure out the murder scene with Roark without having Roark try to kiss her. It is just too funny to listen to. I like all the scenes that Roark shows up.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No.

What did you love best about Cold Vengeance?

I loved the hunt in Scotland for his brother in law. It shows just how obsessed Pendergast can become. He is by far the most interesting detective being written about today. I certainly hope he survives his hunt for Helen's murderers.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cold Vengeance?

I liked the entire book but found his ability to take on disguises and persevere the most interesting. Who would expect him to break the law the way he does to track down the killers.

Which character – as performed by Rene Auberjonois – was your favorite?

Pendergast. Mr. Auberjonois does a superb job of catching the eccentric nature of the detective.

If you could sum up Fever Dream in three words, what would they be?

    Mysterious, curious, and intriguing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Fever Dream?

I liked the entire book and found Pendergast more mysterious than usual. I was glad that the sequels to the book were already published so I could continue the saga. It is always intriguing to find that he has a private life and actually loved someone as much as he loved Helen.

What does Rene Auberjonois bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is the best narrator for the story. I can't imagine anyone else narrating Pendergast in the same light. You can see his spidery fingers, and pale silver eyes. He makes Pendergast come to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Always. I love the Pendergast series.

Would you listen to The Witness again? Why?

Yes. I liked the narrator and I loved the storyline. The plot was twisted so I'm sure if another listen I would get even more of the nuances around Elizabeth, Liz, Abigale and her adventures. Brooks is just too much and so patient. You just knew he would get his way in the end.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I was never sure if Abigale would relent and I certainly didn't expect the ending. Alls well that ends well BUT it was interesting right up to the land scene.

What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?

Yes. I liked Ms. Whelan's performance. She had just the right cadence for the southern accents and the Russian accents and all of them. It is amazing to me how these narrators can take on so many different sounds and keep them straight as they read.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. But I feel that way about almost all of the books.

    Any additional comments?

Just that I love Nora Roberts and am always amazed at how many different plots she comes up with. My favorite is when she writes as J.D. Robb....very different.

What did you love best about Frost Burned?

I love Mercy's independent spirit and how she has settled into being the Alpha's mate and #2 in the pack. The story didn't seem to have the punch that earlier books had but maybe that's just me. I certainly will buy Book 8 when it becomes available.

What other book might you compare Frost Burned to and why?

It compares to the other Mercy Thompson books, of course, but beyond that I haven't read any similar books with such a strong female protagonist.

What does Lorelei King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

How many ways can I say how good Lorelei King is? Her inflection, her accents, her way of getting Adam's growl just right (be still my heart...pitter-pat-pitter-pat) and how she makes even Stephan the Vampire sound sexy. She is an excellent narrator, perhaps 2nd only to Davina Porter in my book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I get hooked on Mercy and want the stories to go on and on. Of course, I have all the books in audible and paper formats so I can just pick the first book, Moon Called, and start the series over.

    Any additional comments?

I love the series and commend Ms. Briggs for keeping it interesting and fun.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have read every one of the printed books by J.D. Robb, some more than once. I just love the characters even though some think Eve Dallas is too bitchy and Roark is just too much. I like them both and believe they bring out the best in each other. I've always wondered if they will ever have kids....somehow I doubt it but they sure do 'try' lots of times. Nora Roberts is terrific as J.D. Robb.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Eve because she is so damaged but excels and Roark because of the same reasons. He is just too cool.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked them all. I believe the gray button that Roark keeps is the sweetest thing ever.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reaction except to say that I will listen again and get more in audible. Susan Erickson is a good narrator for Eve and does Roark just superbly.

Where does Miss Tonks Turns to Crime rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is among my favorites for light humor with some odd twists. I plan to eventually listen to all the books in the series.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that finally true love prevails. I believe this is a thread in all of the books but still love the way Sir Phillip and The Colonel are jealous of each other over Lady Fortescue...it gives all of us 'of a certain age' hope for romance.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I liked the entire book but guess one of my favorites was the highway man holding up the coach.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh in several places like the kiss on the road; the rat in the pocket; the way Sir Phillip 'saved the French chef.'

    Any additional comments?

I just enjoy listening to Davina Porter. I would probably like it if I heard her reading the UK phone book. well, maybe not but almost anything else. She is marvelous.
