The fantasy merged with reality, science and politics is very entertaining. A couple of questions still linger which is a perfect primer for the sequel. I can't wait!
I really enjoyed the background and development of the characters. The world of a biker's club was unique and interesting. Joanna Wylde could have doubled the length of this story and I would have been very happy. Once I started listening, I didn't want to stop. The relationship between the two main characters was very believable.
The adventures of Kvothe are spellbinding. What a life! It was so exciting to follow Kvothe through his many struggles, successes and failures. I'm ready for the next book to bring full circle the path of the young Kvothe to the older man who is waiting to die.
Welcome to a world of magic where the humans are slaves. The elves control everything within their domain. The half-breeds are feared by the elves (for good reason) and the dragons are in hiding. This is a world where unicorns exist although they're called one-horns and are one of the most dangerous animals of all. It's a challenging world where the different aspects of 'humanity' are understandable and heartbreaking. The heroine is a wonderful character I loved to cheer for.
Fascinating story with the reality of a typical apartment building, including a variety of interesting neighbors. Add the supernatural on top of what could exist right down the road and you've got one mind-bending adventure. I could easily identify with many of the characters which made the bizarre seem so much more possible.
Sylvia makes me long to be a young twenty-something again for the physical benefits alone! The main characters are young, successful, gorgeous, and hot. The passion and emotional turmoil take the reader on a roller-coaster ride. I was left with a lot of questions about Gideon and Eva which I hope to get answered in the second book.
I enjoyed the stereotypical man-in-charge and obedient-woman characters who are contradicted by strong romantic personalities. There are moments that made me laugh out loud and moments that made me cry. Many of the bedroom scenes are detailed and steamy. Just enough drama and intrique with idyllic romanticism. The Scottish accents are fun too.
Jim Butcher takes the reader on another wonderful adventure with Dresden escaping seemingly no-win situations. Dresden gets himself into very interesting situations as the White Knight with a target on his back. His friends (and a few enemies) come to his rescue more than once just when it seems Dresden's doomed for sure.
This Dresden story seemed to have more unexpected twists and turns than some of the others I've listened to. Very entertaining. Nothing predictable in this story.
The storyline changes to present itself from the perspective of 3 different characters. This took me off balance at first but provided a richness as the lives of the 3 characters intertwined. Very enjoyable!
