When the president of the United States is blackmailed into releasing five detainees from Guantanamo Bay, a sadistic assassin with a vendetta years in the making is reactivated. Suddenly, the people closest to counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath are being targeted and he realizes that somehow, somewhere he has left the wrong person alive. With his life plunged into absolute peril, and the president ordering him to stay out of the investigation, Harvath must mount his own covert plan for revenge.

Brad Thor has taken his creative writing craft to a new level. He certainly stands out with the likes of Vince Flynn and David Baldacci for creating an edge of the chair novel that is guaranteed to grab you and never let you go. George Guidall provides a terrific narration. I have enjoyed all of Brad Thor's novels to date, but First Commandment is definitely a stand out.

From David Baldacci - the modern master of the thriller and number-one worldwide best-selling novelist - comes a new hero: a lone Army Special Agent taking on the toughest crimes facing the nation. John Puller is a combat veteran and the best military investigator in the U.S. Army's Criminal Investigative Division. His father was an Army fighting legend, and his brother is serving a life sentence for treason in a federal military prison. Puller has an indomitable spirit and an unstoppable drive to find the truth.

I liked this book right from the opening. This had a great story line, although maybe a familiar one. There was a male and female narrator... bravo for the creativity here as it added an entirely new dimension to the way the story was presented. I alsolike the sound effects and occasional music that faded in and out of the story. All in all, this was a fine book that will not disappoint... and I hope there is a follow up story that includes Puller.

Patrick Davis is a man with troubles. First his Hollywood dreams crumble, then his storybook marriage hits a snag. Finally, DVDs start being delivered to his house – DVDs which show that someone is watching him and his wife, that the two of them are being stalked and recorded by cameras hidden around and within their house. Then the e-mails start, and someone offers to fix everything, to take the mess his life has become and make it all right. Patrick figures it's the offer of a lifetime.

This book was in my Recommendations list - thank you Audible for suggesting this title. I was intrigued by the plot, charatcters, and narration. I have already added other Gregg Hurwitz titles to my library... and if they are only half as good as this one, I will still be one satified listener.

Determined to sever his ties with the Office, Gabriel Allon has retreated to the windswept cliffs of Cornwall with his beautiful Venetian-born wife, Chiara. But once again his seclusion is interrupted by a visitor from his tangled past: the endearingly eccentric London art dealer Julian Isherwood. As usual, Isherwood has a problem. And it is one only Gabriel can solve.

Another terrific effort by Daniel Silva... another great narration by Phil Gigante. This book was a little slow getting out of the gate, but once the horse let loose, the suspense and action really heated up. Interesting, but sad story, about the fate of people during WWII,

When you're the best at what you do, it's not always easy to walk away. Nathan McBride was retired. The trained Marine sniper and covert CIA operative had put the violence of his former life behind him. But not anymore. A deep-cover FBI agent has disappeared along with one ton of powerful Semtex explosive, enough to unleash a disaster of international proportions. The U.S. government has no choice but to coax Nathan out of retirement.

Ed says: "Sniper thriller par excellence"

First to Kill is a quick action thriller that is hard to put down. Andrew Peterson and Dick Hill team up to make one exciting Audible experience. There is no going wrong with this title!!! Looking forward to the next Andrew Peterson effort.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."
    "Woof, Woof... Zoom, Zoom"
    Overall

The Art of Racing in the Rain does not fall within my usual Audible genre, but being a dog lover, I am so glad that I took a chance on this wonderful listen. The writer's portrayal of Enzo was absolutely brilliant. This dog's understanding of the complexities of the world and human nature was beautifully expressed.

This was one of the best listens of the year, and also my first listen to Christopher Evan Welch as a narrator... He, too, added greatly to the beauty, pace, and comfort of this book.
