I've listened to a ton of audiobooks while I commute, and am a big fan of the zombie apocalypse genre. I've never written a review before, but this book was so great that I just had to write one. This book is a masterpiece. Also, the second book is probably better than the first in my opinion. I started listening to this story and was so consumed by the story that I didn't want to leave the car. I got my wife to start reading it, and even though she is skeptical about this genre, she was absolutely consumed by it as well. BUY IT!

The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people's minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant, and in the world of Scion, she commits treason simply by breathing.... It is raining the day her life changes forever. Attacked, drugged and kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford - a city kept secret for 200 years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

An engaging and well developed plot line, likable characters and a descriptively created coherent world.

What could Samantha Shannon have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not have written it. It's terrible.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    None

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The reader was good. But her great accent couldn't save a poorly written story.

    Any additional comments?

I wish the hype would die down, so the reviews can dissuade anyone else from buying this book.

Summer, 1968. Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy are dead. The assassination conspiracies have begun to unravel. A dirty-tricks squad is getting ready to deploy at the Democratic Convention in Chicago. Black militants are warring in southside L.A. The Feds are concocting draconian countermeasures. And fate has placed three men at the vortex of History.

I bought this audiobook because Stephen King highly recommended it, and my wife and I are fans of his. I tried listening to this two times and never could make it past about the four-hour mark. Super boring, narrator sucked, story was very dis-jointed.

The first book of Day by Day Armageddon took us deep into the mind of a military officer and survivor as he made a New Year's resolution to start keeping a journal. The man kept his resolution and brought to us the fall of humanity, day by day. We see the man transition from the life that you and I live to the prospect of fighting for his very survival against the overwhelming hordes of the dead. We see him bleed, we see him make mistakes, we witness him evolve.
