Walker & Daughter is Georgia Walker's little yarn shop, tucked into a quiet storefront on Manhattan's Upper West Side. The Friday Night Knitting Club is the ad hoc creation of some of Georgia's regulars, who stroll into the shop looking for tips on knitting and end up finding much, much more. Once a week, they gather to work on their latest projects and to chat - and occasionally clash - over their stories of love, life, and everything in between.

I have never written a book review, but I felt compelled to do so after listening to this book. I often felt like I had missed a chapter or something as the story did not flow. I listen to my books when I am driving and found myself 'rewinding' to see what I had missed, which turned out to be nothing, it just didn't make sense. The ending just "happened,"--it seemed as if the author was paid to write x amount of words and had to shove in the final part.

I agree with the others who did not like the narrator; she seemed to stereotype the characters in an unflattering manner.

Last but not least, I have to say that I was not really interested in the fate of any of the characters. That to me, is the sign of a terrible story.

Nicole Krauss' first novel, Man Walks Into a Room, was shortlisted for the Los Angeles Times Book Award and her short fiction has been collected in Best American Short Stories. Now The History of Love proves Krauss is among our finest and freshest literary voices.

Kathryn Lunetta says: "Beautiful story, beautifully written."
    "Completely unexpected..."

I loved, loved, loved this book. I loved it so much I would almost consider reading it too. Don't hesitate, buy it!
