I enjoyed her telling, but she was a bit unsympathetic in her pathological sexual hookups.
There was a clash with how good a writer she is and what pathetic situations she would set herself up in/how judgmental she was of other twenty-somethings trying to find out who they are.

I would give her another chance, because this was witty writing - subject matter is very raunchy, and not in a sexy way - not for everyone.

I thought it would have much more interesting twists involving the real life reader and the author of the book.

Duma Key by Stephen King

The female narrator was good, but the character was bland and uninteresting. I don't mind unlikeable characters, but I disliked her for being boring. The male narrator was good, but the pace of the story was so slow, there was not much he could do about it.

The book drew me in with its premise. I thought it was bold to have graphic terror juxtaposed with an angry ex as the writer - but there was no payoff for dragging through many interminable passages in the book that I thought were leading somewhere.

Others may well feel differently, and I have been listening to Jo Nesbo, who is great at ratcheted tension and engaging characters, as well as classics, so maybe a novel by someone who has not written as much will pale on tension and character development.

I need things to really engage me in order to escape these days - and this book failed on that level. .

I got a similar enjoyment as that a of a very good Stephen King book. I feel Joe Hill has a great way of drawing you in to the characters so you can worry for them/with them. Interesting concept for a story - more fresh than recent novels by his Dad, Stephen King (who I loved reading in his prime).

The reader strikes just the right tone in PKD's trippy classic. Poetic and bizarre space-noir. A very enjoyable listen.

I don't think anyone could have done Shirley Jackson's chilling story better justice than David Warner has here. I love audiobooks, and the quality of the reader is just as important as great material...this is a match made in heaven - or some other place where perfect ghost stories are forged. Not to be missed by Jackson fans.
