"A Tedious Downward Step for Listners"
I've been a big fan of Chuck Palahniuk's work since reading Lullaby and seeing Fight Club but no longer. After listening to his previous book Rant and now Snuff I can now attest that Chuck Palahniuk has lost it. What he had in his early books (let's say anything before Haunted) is gone now. What we're left with is an author who feels his only remaining gift is his ability to shock, and that's a shame.
Early Chuck Palahniuk books had characters in them. Characters that did shocking things, sure, but you cared about them. In this book you never really care because each chapter is more outrageous that the previous one; and that's all the book has to offer. The characters are all one dimensional shells.
Take a pass on this book and find something good to listen to.
"Great book, unlistenable audiobook"
This biography of Fleming is a well written and well read book, but the audio production quality is very poor. Often the loudness of the reading drops suddenly, causing you to have to turn up the volume and be deafened when the normal loudness returns, or the treble drops out and you're left trying hard to understand what little you can make out from the bass.
Pass on this book.
