Richard Coulter is a man who has everything. His beautiful new wife is pregnant, his upstart airline is undercutting the competition and moving from strength to strength, his diversification into the casino business in Macau has been successful, and his fabulous Art Deco house on an Irish cliff top has just been featured in Architectural Digest. But then, for some reason, his ex-wife Rachel doesn’t keep her side of the custody agreement and vanishes off the face of the earth with Richard’s two daughters. Richard hires Killian, a formidable ex-enforcer for the IRA, to track her down before Rachel, a recovering drug addict, harms herself or the girls.

I liked the ending. The overall story was compelling if a bit predictable. The characters were well rounded and the descriptions of the settings were nice. My only issue was with the beginning, it was disjointed and easy to get distracted out of the story.

My current mission is personal: annihilate Mab Monroe, the Fire elemental who murdered my family, which means protecting my identity, even if I have to conceal my powerful Stone and Ice magic when I need it most."

The only reason I got this far in the series is that I bought all 3 before listening to any. If I had just gotten the first I wouldn't have continued with the series. However, #2 was a step up and #3 is OK. The author is getting better. Not sure I'll continue past here though.

I listened to this two weeks ago and enjoyed it. However, when I sat down to write this review I had to read the intro and listen a little bit because I'd forgotten the story. So I'd say it's worth a listen but nothing that stuck in my head. So neither great nor terrible, I remember those :)

A serial killer who inexplicably likes to kill in threes, leave behind inexplicable newspaper clippings, and not one shred of decent forensic evidence, soon starts leaving messages that seem to be just for Cadence and her sisters.
