Great! Scott does a fantastic job reading a Sci-Fi classic. I read this book in my early teens and have loved it ever since. Just listened for the first time and it is a very good rendition.

Good try, but a bit overly simplistic. The reasons the authors give for the downfall of civilization sounds much more politically motivated the real research into real causes.

While I do expect economic collapse sometime in the future, and possibly an environmental collapse, the reasons given in this book they are no relation to the real reasons these collapses may come. The stories, especially the first, would have been much better had they left simplistic politics out.

That said there was much to like about the stories, even the first. Each offered at least one point to think about. I may not agree with their politics, nor with the simplistic solutions to a lowered footprint, but some of the interactions did offer intriguing possibilities.

I suppose since this was an anthology the authors didn't have time to properly research the topics they were writing about. Maybe they can expand on them in the future with more realistic solutions.

Tristran Thorn has lost his heart to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. One crisp October night, as they watch, a star falls from the sky, and Victoria promises to marry Tristran if he'll retrieve the star and bring it back for her. It is this promise that sends Tristran on the most unforgettable adventure of his life.

Great narration. Really nice to hear the author read their own work. It bring something to the story that you just can't get by reading yourself or hearing somebody else read the book. However, I feel that the movie was a bit of a cleanup of some of the elements in the book that didn't really work. I suppose I'm one of the few that like the movie better (this is a first for me, I never like the movie better). Still, great book.

It is the summer of 1950 and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia's family calls home. A dead bird is found on the doorstep, a postage stamp bizarrely pinned to its beak. Hours later, Flavia finds a man lying in the cucumber patch and watches him as he takes his dying breath. For Flavia, who is both appalled and delighted, life begins in earnest when murder comes to Buckshaw.

Decent enough story, kinda cute. I lean towards siding with the reviews saying the narrator was a bit irritating. She was good, but too much of the story was narrated in the child's voice. Aside from the narration, the story followed a predictable arc. Little sleuth saves the day! Didn't like how she's saved at the end, a bit too much of writers convienece. Still fun and worth a read.

First prize in the Skyway Soap slogan contest was an all-expenses-paid trip to the moon. The consolation prize was an authenticspace suit, and when scientifically minded high school senior Kip Russell wonit, he knew for certain he would use it one day to make a sojourn of his own tothe stars. But "one day" comes sooner than he thinks when he tries the suit on in his backyard - and finds himself worlds away, a prisoner aboard a space pirate's ship.

Here you have a smart intelligent female, with a biology degree, who seemingly takes care of herself in the beginning, but then the first time she sees a cute guy she wants to jump in bed with him. The story would've been a lot better if she had less hormones and a little more story. Minus the sex scene it's not too bad.

When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, send for a boy orphan to help them out at the farm, they are in no way prepared for the error that will change their lives. The mistake takes the shape of Anne Shirley, a redheaded 11-year-old girl who can talk anyone under the table. Fortunately, her sunny nature and quirky imagination quickly win over her reluctant foster parents. Anne's feisty spirit soon draws many friends - and much trouble - her way.

John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First, he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce - and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So, we fight, to defend Earth and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding.

I don't give too many fives. But this one was great. The first third of the book was very interesting and relatively novel. The rest of the book, dealing with the war and the battles, was similar to a lot of other books. However, it was told well and the story was very engaging.
