This is a book about fear...the fear to be truly seen by others and to let people in. Harold Fry can't trust, can't be with others, can't express himself. There is a little Harold in all of us. The story is beautiful and the performance is lovely and moving. A great listen!
I have listened to lots of Kenyon's books and liked them all. This is nothing but crap. Just long drawn out sadistic writing and lots of whining. Please, Kenyon, you have a bent towards abusing your characters, but this is just too much.
Loved this book. A compelling story that captures all of the human emotions and even some mental illness is a sensitive and authentic way. All the kindness and meanness interacting as they do in real life creates a sense that you are watching a real family come to terms with its history.
I loved this book! I wasn't sure when I bought it, but it drew me into a life so real, so frightening, and still so beautiful. So many characters who simultaneously depict the best and worst of human beings. The language is enchanting, poetic. The story compelling. The hero so strong and so frail. This is a book of great paradoxes.
New twist on an old theme...kept me listening til it ended. Waiting for the sequel.
After reading the first book by Kearsley,I had to read the second. It was just as good as the first. Loved them both. The characters were great and the story compelling. Real enjoyment. Waiting for the third book. Hoping it comes soon.
The two parallel love stories are beautifully written. The performance is fabulous. The ride through history is interesting. I listened to it three times through.
This was great. Moved fast with lots of interesting characters. The plot was thick enough to make me pay attention. Performance was good, engaging.
I loved this book. Bought the whole extraordinary trilogy. The narration is great and the story is captivating.
Geraldine James is no Davina Porter. Not only that, I never by unabridged books. I bought this because I love the series so much and have listened to the first four books several times. Not is it only "partial" but the narator is somewhat boring and I read that her contract is holding up the unabridged version. Why would you ever use anyone but Davina Porter? It just baffles the mind.
