    What made the experience of listening to Gone Girl the most enjoyable?

    The narrators are excellent. I had not had the experience of listening to two narrators.


    Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

    The story is a grabber - lots of twists and turns. I had no idea how it would end until it ended.


    Any additional comments?

    I wished for a more satisfactory ending - although the author does leave it open for a sequel. I hope there is one - I'd be the first to sign up. Great book!

    The story of Abraham Lincoln is fascinating and spellbinding.


    Who was your favorite character and why?

    Lincoln - a warm, compassionate, incredibly smart man who led our country through a very turbulent period.


    Which character – as performed by Suzanne Toren – was your favorite?

    Lincoln - Ms. Toren's reading was perfect for this book.


    Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes, but way too long. I loved it all.

    Winter of the World picks up right where the first book left off, as its five interrelated families - American, German, Russian, English, Welsh - enter a time of enormous social, political, and economic turmoil, beginning with the rise of the Third Reich, through the Spanish Civil War and the great dramas of World War II, up to the explosions of the American and Soviet atomic bombs. As always with Ken Follett, the historical background is brilliantly researched and rendered, the action fast-moving, the characters rich in nuance and emotion.

    If you could sum up Winter of the World in three words, what would they be?

    Fascinating

    What was one of the most memorable moments of Winter of the World?

    There were many - too many to list here. I find the story of WWII incredibly interesting, and I can't read enough books about it. The intertwining of the personal family stories makes the book all the more interesting.


    Have you listened to any of John Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    This is my first.


    Who was the most memorable character of Winter of the World and why?

    Again, there were several. I loved Lloyd Williams and Daisy. I loved the strong women - Carla and Frieda.

    This is a fabulous book.
