    I am an atheist but couldn't finish this very depressing book. I didn't want to spend my time listening to a lot of lists of various headlines of people doing bad things. I had hoped it would have been a little more informative, not boring. Her voice was irritating too. Anyone who is an atheist already knows all this stuff.

If you like David Sedaris you will like There Is a Road in North Dakota. The stories are just as funny but Sam's family and the people he grew up under were even more dysfunctional.

    This was a great local book - especially if you live in North Dakota, or the upper midwest. I especially like that the author read the book - adds so much to the story. Sam has a great optimistic attitude and able to look on the bright side of life.

    The only way I could get thru the melodramatic narration was to imagine this as a take-off from Saturday Night Live on a detective show - reminded me of that bad acting by William Shatner on his detective show - people (and I hope cops) just don't talk this way. But if you think of it as a spoof - it is quite funny.
